Sita Devi Verma, Lalita Pawar, established in Darjeeling, is the guardian to two young women (Nina Kalpana Mohan and Rita Verma Parveen Choudhary) and two schoolchildren, Bunty and Munnu. She is a strict guardian and is looking for a tutor, with the condition that the tutor should be over 50 years old. Pritam Khanna, Shammi Kapoor, a recent college graduate desperate for work, applies for the job but is rejected due to his age. On the same day, he discovers his mother, Pratima Devi, has advanced tuberculosis and needs hospitalization. Facing financial strain, he disguises himself as an older professor to take the job.

The women attempt to defame the professor to sway Sita Devi, using various tricks. Pritam quickly uncovers their schemes and outmaneuvers them. He falls for Nina and woos her as a cosmopolitan city-dweller. When Sita Devi unexpectedly develops feelings for the "old professor Khanna," chaos erupts as Pritam must romance the two women in different disguises at the same time, all while keeping up the ruse. Through clever disguises, wit, and a balance of charm and responsibility, he navigates the tangled web he has woven, aiming to protect his mother and find a path toward happiness for everyone involved.
