Despite the hardships, Wonka and the other workers in her laundry secretly plan a way to escape and sell chocolates illegally, which eventually gives them enough money to pursue his dream of opening a shop. However, evil forces within the chocolate cartel, led by Slugworth and his accomplices, threaten his success. They poison his chocolates, causing a scandal and leading to his shop being burned down in anger from the townspeople. Wonka then learns that the cartel's illicit activities are being hidden in a vault guarded by corrupt officials, including a cleric and monks. He, along with his friends, devises a daring plan to infiltrate the vault, steal the ledger revealing their crimes, and expose the truth to the world.
