Madhu and Mala are identical twin sisters living with their grandmother, each carrying a distinct personality. Madhu is outgoing, playful, and full of mischief, always ready with a joke or a prank, while Mala is quiet, serious, and focused on her medical studies. When the college principal notices Madhu’s disruptive antics, he nominates her for an inter-college quiz as a penalty, a move that is really meant to curb her risk-taking and expose her lack of seriousness in a high-stakes setting. Madhu pleads with Mala to take her place, and Mala agrees, hoping to help her sister out.

During the quiz, Mala meets Sameer Wankhede, and the two quickly fall in love. The next day, Sameer encounters Madhu and believes she is Mala, asking for her phone number. Madhu realizes the mix-up only after the fact, and, in a moment of scheming and impulse, gives Mala’s number to him, inadvertently fueling a budding romance between Sameer and Mala’s assumed identity.

Mala soon wants to date Sameer truly, but a friend warns her that Sameer thinks he is dating Madhu. The situation escalates when an invitation to Sameer’s birthday party is handed to Madhu through their grandmother because Mala has locked herself away in her room. Madhu reads the invite and attends the party with friends, while Sameer waits for Mala. When Madhu arrives first, he assumes she is Mala and proposes marriage, leaving Mala devastated and heartbroken. The truth finally comes to light on the day of the engagement when their grandmother discovers Madhu pretending to be Mala. Heartbroken, she still guides Madhu to make her own choice in the matter. As the moment arrives for the engagement, Madhu’s guilt overwhelms her, and she confesses everything in front of everyone. In response, Sameer rushes to Mala’s medical camp, where the two original lovers are reunited and reconciled.

In the end, the family and the couple confront the consequences of deception, but the emotional core remains: the genuine connection between Mala and Sameer endures, and the truth brings them back together, with Mala’s medical commitment and Madhu’s growth guiding the path forward.
