Over the vibrant opening credits, a bold set of red lips captivates the audience as they sing the iconic tune “Science Fiction-Double Feature.” At the heart of this wild adventure are Brad Majors (Barry Bostwick) and Janet Weiss (Susan Sarandon), two seemingly ordinary kids hailing from the quaint town of Denton, Ohio. They first crossed paths during a college refresher course taught by Dr. Scott and quickly fell in love. As the story unfolds, they find themselves attending the wedding of Ralph Hapschatt and Betty Monroe. With excitement in the air, Brad seizes the moment to propose to Janet inside the church, bursting into a heartfelt tune titled “Damnit Janet,” to which she gleefully agrees.

As they embark on a long drive to share their joyous news with Dr. Scott, a mysterious Criminologist ([Charles Gray]) warns us of the peculiar series of events that will follow. Despite ominous storm clouds, the couple continues their journey. The peaceful drive soon turns chaotic as rain begins to pour, and Janet feels increasingly anxious, especially with a band of bikers speeding by. After a sudden bang, their car comes to a halt, compelling them to seek refuge at a nearby castle they previously passed.

Upon arriving, they encounter Riffraff ([Richard O’Brien]), the eerie butler, who welcomes them in a manner that augments their unease. The interior is a bizarre amalgamation of odd relics, unsettling trophies, and dark wooden decor. Riffraff informs them they arrived on a fateful night when “the master” is hosting a particularly lavish party. Brad and Janet soon find themselves swept into the jubilant chaos of the castle, where they meet the flamboyant housemaid Magenta and are drawn into the unforgettable “Time Warp.”

As the Criminologist explains the dance moves, Brad and Janet become unwitting participants in a surreal spectacle filled with peculiar partygoers clad in tuxedos and eccentric attire. Among them, they meet Columbia ([Little Nell]), who adds to the bizarre ambiance. Feeling out of place, Brad and Janet initially attempt to leave, but are soon captivated by the strange atmosphere.

Their world turns upside down when Dr. Frank N. Furter ([Tim Curry]), a charismatic figure in extravagant drag, makes a dramatic entrance. He introduces himself with the unforgettable “Sweet Transvestite,” addressing Brad’s plea for assistance, but with a sinister twist that leaves them both shocked. As Frank invites them into his dungeon of delights, a chaotic and enthralling night unfolds.

The bizarre transformation begins when Frank unveils his creation, Rocky Horror ([Peter Hinwood]), a perfect specimen brought to life amid a whirlwind of dark humor and music. However, disturbing events soon transpire, leading to the shocking demise of Eddie ([Meatloaf]), adding an unsettling layer to the already surreal evening.

As the night progresses, Brad and Janet get swept away in a maelstrom of desire and deception, leading to several intimate encounters with Frank in a dizzying exploration of lust and identity. As their innocence shatters, Janet is drawn to Rocky, leading to a musical proclamation of newfound freedom in “Toucha Toucha Touch Me.”

Their escapades escalate as Dr. Scott arrives, seeking answers but only bringing more chaos. The dining table reveals a macabre surprise when it’s uncovered that they have been feasting on Eddie, which drives the characters into a frenzied state of terror and confusion. The heart of the madness culminates in Frank’s outrageous attempts to maintain control, resulting in chaos and betrayal among his guests.

With a riveting floor show, everyone performs to “Floor Show,” dynamically showcasing their metamorphosis since arriving. However, the triumphant airs are abruptly halted by Riffraff and Magenta’s unexpected rebellion. The tale spirals into hilarity and horror as allegiances turn, leading to Frank’s demise while he professes his longing for home.

As the castle crumbles, leaving our three protagonists to grapple with their shattered realities, they manage to escape just before it detonates, dispersing under a magical dawn. The Criminologist delivers a poignant reflection on the human experience amidst the tumult of the night:

“And crawling… on the planet’s face… some insects… called the human race. Lost in time… and lost in space… and meaning.”
