La Chimera

Arthur, a former British archaeologist, is released from prison after being convicted for stealing artifacts. His criminal past weighs heavily on him as he returns to Italy to face the consequences of his actions and search for a new path.

Arthur visits his ex-girlfriend Beniamina's mother, Flora, at her home. The visit is filled with tension as Beniamina has been missing, and Flora holds on to hope for her daughter's return despite the family's growing frustrations.

Arthur's living conditions are bleak as he battles the cold with inadequate clothing and heating. His suffering becomes apparent when he finds himself bedridden due to a cold, highlighting his desperate situation.

After receiving coffee from Italia, Arthur discovers that his buried artifacts have gone missing. This prompts him to confront his old gang, who he believes may have stolen his collection to sell for profit.

At the town's Epiphany celebrations, Arthur meets with his gang again, who return his stolen artifacts. They encounter a farmer looking for help to locate a tomb on his land, which piques Arthur's interest in grave robbery once again.

Using his dowsing twig and vivid visions, Arthur successfully locates the tomb. His ability to see graves in his mind reignites his passion for archaeology, despite his morally questionable methods.

Arthur grows closer to Italia, sharing a romantic dance at the beach. However, their relationship is strained when Italia learns more about his illicit activities and challenges Arthur's character regarding his missing ex-girlfriend Beniamina.

Arthur and his gang uncover a statue of Artume inside the tomb. Their reckless decision to decapitate the statue causes Arthur distress, indicating his troubled feelings about both the artifact and their actions.

After discovering the police are on their trail, Arthur and the gang flee with the decapitated statue. They remain unaware that the sirens they heard were a trick by a rival group looking to hijack the artifacts.

The gang visits Spartaco, who sets up an auction to sell the statue pieces. Arthur's moral conflict peaks when he initially uses the head as blackmail but then throws it into the water, rejecting his criminal past.

Furious with Arthur's actions, his gang decides to part ways with him. This marks a turning point in Arthur’s life as he faces the consequences of his choices and the loneliness that follows.

Arthur encounters Italia's daughter, who leads him to Italia's new home at an abandoned train station. They reconcile, sharing a kiss that reignites their relationship before a new separation occurs.

Arthur joins the group of tomb robbers who had previously masqueraded as police. Their adventure leads Arthur into a collapsing shaft, trapping him as he reflects on his life choices and visions of Beniamina.

Trapped in the tunnel, Arthur experiences a final vision where he reunites with Beniamina. This poignant moment underscores his unresolved feelings and the impact of his choices on his past and future.
