Two brothers Govind and Rajesh are happy being brought up by their considerably older half-brother Hari Srivastav. When Hari has to leave home for two months to complete his law degree, his newly married wife Seema ill treats them, forcing them to leave home and escape to Bombay.

After days spent doing menial labour, the two brothers are welcomed by a widower named Rahim, who has a son Anwar and a daughter Farida. Govind takes on the responsibility of providing for his brother’s education by becoming the taxi-driver Chhotu Ustad, pouring his energy into steady work and a sense of duty despite the hardships they face. Rajesh, meanwhile, grows ambitious and fashion-conscious, turning his back on his brother’s pride by marrying the rich Seth Verma’s daughter, Manju Verma, and becoming a ghar jamai. Manju Verma enters the frame as a marriage that seems advantageous on the surface but soon entangles the siblings in a dangerous scheme.

Verma’s brother Bansi, who has actually helped arrange the match, pushes Rajesh into a drug-smuggling trade that uses the vehicles of Verma Transport Company, owned by the Seth. One operation is foiled by the police, and Anwar becomes gravely injured in the turmoil. Bansi’s men attempt to kidnap Anwar to destroy the mounting evidence when Govind is away, and in the ensuing clash, Rahim is shot fatally, leaving the household shaken and asking questions about loyalty, loyalty, and blame.

In the aftermath, Rajesh comes to a painful realization: he has been merely a pawn in Bansi’s larger game, and he seeks his brother’s mercy, hoping to mend the rift that fear and greed have created. But the danger is far from over. Bansi murders Seth Verma and tries to pin the crime on Rajesh, turning the spotlight toward Govind, who is found at the scene and accused of murder. The courtroom drama unfolds under the guidance of the city’s leading legal mind, and the judge presiding over the case is Hari. The tension mounts as the truth begins to surface, revealing that the true identities and loyalties of the siblings have been shaped by a web of deceit.

Hari now steps down as judge and takes on the role of Govind’s defense attorney, signaling a dramatic turn in the trial. Through a series of astute investigations, the defense uncovers the real story behind Bansi’s schemes, exposing the manipulation that corrupted the Verma enterprise and the brothers’ lives. Bansi, cornered, makes a last-ditch attempt to shoot Hari and escapes the courtroom, but Govind pursues him through the city and ultimately catches up with him in his beloved taxi Basanti. With the smuggling network dismantled and the truth laid bare, the three brothers are reconciled, finding a path forward despite the grievous losses and the betrayals that nearly tore them apart.
