Two bickering brothers, David Andy Serkis and Peter Reece Shearsmith, hatch a reckless plan to kidnap Tracey Jennifer Ellison, the stepdaughter of Arnie, a feared underworld crime boss, with a willing but dimwitted ally in Andrew Steven O’Donnell. The trio set their sights on a secluded country cottage, where they manage to haul Tracey from the car boot and secure her to a bed frame, hoping to secure a ransom that will line their pockets and soften Arnie’s grip.
The ransom delivery should have sealed the deal, but the bag arrives stuffed with napkins instead of cash. David and Peter quickly sense that Arnie may already know about Andrew’s involvement, casting a shadow over the whole plan and inviting a dangerous game of trust and betrayal.
After a mishap—Peter drops David’s phone in water—David ventures to a village phone box to call for help. There, he encounters wary locals who, with a blunt streak of warning, tell him to keep his doors locked and not to wander off the beaten path. Disturbed by what he learns, he hurries back to the cottage, only to discover Tracey has incapacitated Andrew and abducted Peter, flipping the situation in a heart-stopping moment.
A short distance away, Peter and Tracey reach a menacing farm that looks as if it belongs to another world. It’s the home of the deformed serial killer known as the Farmer Dave Legeno. In the kitchen, the Farmer lashes out and stabs Tracey in the stomach, setting off a brutal struggle. Peter manages to knock the Farmer down with a shovel, yet he hesitates to end him, even as Tracey, emboldened by desperation, urges him to finish the job. The Farmer recovers, maims Peter’s foot, and then, in a brutal turn, shoves the shovel into Tracey’s mouth, half-decapitating her. He knocks out Peter and hangs him by his jacket on a meat hook in the shed, leaving the scene drenched in dread and silence.
Back in the woods, Andrew and David press on, stumbling upon Steven Simon Schatzberger, Andrew’s hairdresser, dying from a brutal disembowelment. They press deeper into the forest, navigating toward Peter and Tracey as they encounter the grisly remains of Arnie’s henchman, a victim of a brutal slit throat. They rush to the farm and discover a shed packed with severed heads, a macabre warning that the Farmer will not yield easily. They sprint outside, only to be pinned to the ground by a brutal strike—David is forced to watch as the Farmer drives a pickaxe through his leg and then turns his attention to Andrew, ripping out his spine in a savage act of violence.
With both brothers battered and near collapse, Peter manages to rally, frees himself, and crawls to David. In a rare moment of reconciliation, the siblings vow to keep fighting and drag themselves into the farmhouse to find a working phone. The Farmer reappears, tossing Andrew’s severed head and spine through a window, a grisly trophy that steels their resolve. David makes a desperate stand to defend his brother, but is impaled by the Farmer with the same brutal weapon. In a final act of defiance, Peter tightens a rope around the Farmer’s neck and begins to strangle him, a grim struggle that ends with the Farmer tossing Peter down the cellar stairs and sealing the trap door.
Trapped below, Peter fights to stay conscious as the rope tightens and the world grows darker. The Farmer collapses onto the trap door, pinning Peter beneath the floor. Desperate, Peter descends into the cellar proper, flicking his lighter in a last-ditch effort to survive. The glow reveals the Farmer’s wife and two daughters—his grotesque, captive family—closing in on him as the flame dies. With the lighter snuffed and fear tightening its grip, Peter accepts the fate that the basement intends for him, and the attack begins.
After the credits roll, Arnie and his right-hand men arrive at the farm, only to be met by a terrifying burst of violence. The Farmer lunges out at them, the scene freezing as he raises the pickaxe high, and the screen cuts to black in a final, chilling note of unresolved danger.
