As a group of friends embarks on an adventurous journey into the woods, they suddenly discover an old locket precariously dangling from the remnants of a decrepit fire tower. However, this nostalgia is abruptly shattered as the homeowner unexpectedly arrives, sending Johnny fleeing back into the enveloping darkness. In a grim twist of fate, he encounters the rotting fox corpse once more – a stark reminder of the fragility of life.

As the night unfolds, Johnny crosses paths with the group of friends gathered around a campfire, their joyful laughter starkly contrasting the looming dread. Ehren [Sam Roulston] chillingly recounts the tragic story of Johnny’s demise, detailing how a developmentally delayed son was lured into peril by promises of toys, ultimately leading to his fatal plunge from the fire tower. This grim narrative foreshadows the nightmarish events that are about to unravel.

As the friends retreat into their cabin for safety, Ehren’s ill-fated choice to step outside triggers a horrifying series of events. With chilling precision, Johnny viciously claims Ehren as his first victim, wielding a drawknife to inflict a gruesome end to his life. The following day, Johnny brazenly makes his way to the park ranger’s office, stealing a pair of dragging hooks and an axe while donning a chilling antique firefighter mask that carries an unsettling significance.

The next morning, Johnny’s sights are set on Aurora [Charlotte Creaghan] and Brodie [Lea Rose Sebastianis], whose peaceful lakeside retreat is soon shattered by the ominous approach of Johnny. As Brodie wades into the water, unaware of the encroaching danger, Johnny surfaces with malicious intent, snuffing out Aurora’s life in a horrifying aquatic assault. With his thirst for carnage unquenched, Johnny then targets Aurora as she precariously practices yoga on a cliffside ledge, her terrified screams echoing through the valley as he drags her to her doom. Meanwhile, Colt and Kris [Andrea Pavlovic] attempt a hurried escape on an ATV, fleeing the chaos of their friends’ brutal fates at the hands of Johnny. As night descends, Johnny’s merciless pursuit escalates to a gruesome climax at the park station, where he confronts the ranger, ultimately overpowering him in a shocking display of brutality with a log splitter.

With her leg injured, she struggles to keep moving until dawn reveals a sympathetic stranger in a pickup truck who offers her a ride to the hospital. This kind woman shares an eerie cautionary tale about her brother’s nightmarish encounter with a bear in these same woods decades ago, while insisting that Kris apply a tourniquet to manage her bleeding.

Gripped by terror, Kris pleads with the driver to abandon her and flee the scene, casting fearful glances into the shadows, awaiting a horrifying reckoning. Meanwhile, the lost locket lies in chaos near the gas canister, its significance overshadowed by the terrors that have unfolded in the woods.
