The Butterfly Effect

In 1998, Evan Treborn begins his tumultuous journey marked by horrific childhood trauma. He suffers sexual abuse at the hands of his girlfriend Kayleigh's father and witnesses the traumatic death of his mentally ill father, which leads to frequent blackouts.

Evan's mother is deeply concerned about his well-being and seeks medical help for her son. However, despite consulting various doctors, the tests provide no clarity on the nature of Evan's blackouts, leaving the family feeling helpless.

In a bid to uncover the reason behind his blackouts, a doctor suggests that Evan maintain a journal. This advice ignites Evan's effort to document his thoughts, hoping to illuminate the chaotic memories that haunt him.

Evan and his friends, including Kayleigh and her brother Tommy, attempt a dangerous prank involving explosives stolen from Kayleigh’s father. The prank goes horribly wrong, resulting in catastrophic injuries to their friend Matt, profoundly affecting Evan's psyche.

Evan's mother takes a desperate step to address his issues by trying hypnosis. This method yields discomforting results, causing Evan severe nosebleeds whenever he tries to delve into his traumatic past.

Evan embarks on his first journey back in time to save Kayleigh from her father's abuse. However, this act of changing the past leads to unforeseen consequences that ripple through his present life.
