Preetham, Ganesh, visits Eva Mall in Bengaluru and, amid a gusty wind, spots the charming Nandini, Pooja Gandhi. In a fateful stumble he slips into a manhole, and Nandini springs into action to pull him out, though in the process she loses her precious heart-shaped watch. What begins as a comic accident quickly blooms into something more, as Preetham clings to the moment and the memory of her kindness.

On a detour with his mother to Madikeri in Coorg, Preetham crosses paths with a determined pursuer named Jaanu, who has shadowed Nandini and mistakes Preetham for a rival in love. A confrontation with Jaanu and his gang leaves Preetham bruised but unbowed, as he fights to protect the possibility of happiness for the woman who captivates him. The encounter intensifies the mystery of Nandini’s life and the stubborn thread of devotion that begins to unwind around her.

In the hill town of Madikeri, a renewed meeting between Preetham and Nandini unfolds. He introduces himself once more, proclaims his love, and offers to fix the heart-shaped watch she lost. But Nandini is already engaged, and she gently but firmly turns away his plea. Yet the spark remains, and Preetham vows that if fate brings them together again, he will marry her. The revelation lands heavy when he discovers that Col. Subbaiah, the nearly deaf host who welcomed him, is Nandini’s father, and that her wedding is booked for the near future. Preetham’s heart sinks as he discards the watch in a moment of despair, only to be taunted by Nandini over the phone to reclaim it, a nudge that rekindles his stubborn hope.

That evening, a strange, almost childlike joy returns as Preetham searches for the watch and finds a rabbit he names Devadas, a companion that will symbolize memory and melancholy on the road ahead. The narrative threads pull tight as the couple prepares to greet Nandini’s Mumbai-bound friends at a railway station. The long delay gives them a window of time to seek shelter from the rain at a nearby hill-temple, where a rooftop conversation and a stormy embrace redefine their understanding of love.

As dawn approaches, Preetham and Nandini confront a crucial truth. To help secure her future, Col. Subbaiah’s health becomes a pressing concern, and he agrees that Nandini should marry Gautam, an army officer who once saved his life. Gautam, Diganth Manchale, emerges as the candidate deemed worthy by the elder generation, even as Nandini’s mother Kamala, Sudha Belawadi, worries that her daughter’s heart may belong elsewhere. The father’s wish shifts the course of the upcoming wedding, and Preetham is left to reconcile his deepest longing with a sense of duty.

In the tense hours before the ceremony, Jaanu makes a desperate bid to intervene, but Preetham steps in to protect Gautam and ensure that the truth about his love remains a quiet secret shared only with Devadas, the rabbit who travels with him. The wedding day arrives, the car breaks down, and Gautam arrives just in time to fulfill the vows, while Preetham, unable to bear witness to the union he cannot claim, withdraws from the scene. The arch reads “Gautham weds Nandini,” and the Kodava-style ceremony unfolds with dignity and resolve, leaving Preetham to retreat into his own realm of memory.

As the new husband and wife begin their life together, Preetham searches for the missing piece of his story. He and Devadas drift along the road toward Bangalore, the rabbit a quiet companion as he confides in him about a love that could have been. In a heartbreaking final turn, Devadas dies, and Preetham’s journey ends where memory meets sorrow: he buries Devadas and carries with him the weight of a love that remained unfulfilled, choosing to honor what might have been while stepping forward into an uncertain future.
