Abhiram is the only son of Uma and Babji. On a windy day at a mall, he spots a pretty girl named Nandini and, while staring, accidentally falls into a manhole. Nandini rescues him but in the process loses her heart-shaped watch, a small symbol of the connection that’s just begun.
While accompanying his mother to Araku, Jaanu, who has been quietly following Nandini, confronts him and beats him up, mistaking him for someone who is dating her. Unaware that Jaanu has vowed to keep anyone away from Nandini, Abhiram fights back and defeats Jaanu and his gang.
In Araku, Abhiram reconnects with Nandini, declaring his love and offering to tie the watch as a pledge to marry her. But Nandini, who is already engaged, rejects the proposal. Yet Abhiram vows to marry her if their paths cross again. Uma then takes Abhiram to her friend Bharathi’s house, where he discovers that the host in Araku, Col. Choudary, is Nandini’s father. Col. Choudary is deaf, and Nandini’s wedding is only a week away. Dejected, Abhiram discards Nandini’s watch, sure that his chance has slipped away.
Nandini calls him and asks to meet again, and Abhiram eagerly goes in search of the watch. While searching, he befriends a rabbit he names Devadas and eventually locates the cherished watch. With Nandini’s Mumbai-bound friends due to arrive for the wedding, Abhiram takes her to the railway station. The Mumbai train is delayed by five hours, so the two decide to visit a nearby temple. On the return trip, they are caught in the rain and find shelter with an elderly couple in a hut. Abhiram, still hesitant about declaring his love, drinks from a few toddy bottles and, when Nandini offers an umbrella, tells her he would rather stay away to avoid pushing her.
Nandini has fallen in love with him and faces a difficult dilemma as her wedding approaches. She begs him to take her to the top of a waterfall and confesses her love while standing at the edge. Determined to marry her, Abhiram takes Col. Choudary out for a morning jog to discuss the match, but Choudary—a heart patient—tells him he could die at any time and his only wish is to see Nandini married off to Gautam. Later, Nandini asks if Abhiram has told her father their story; Abhiram admits doubt about her love. In anger, he accuses her of betraying her parents and questions whether she can truly be faithful to him. Hurt, Nandini slaps him and leaves in tears.
On the night before the wedding, Abhiram leaves without Devadas. He drinks again in a bar and encounters Gautam asking the bartender for directions to Choudary’s home. When Jaanu tries to harm Gautam, Abhiram intervenes and convinces himself that Gautam is the right match for Nandini. The next day, Abhiram drops Gautam at the venue but refuses to attend the ceremony. Gautam asks for the heart-shaped watch as a keepsake, but Abhiram refuses to part with it, deciding to keep the memento for himself. He then wishes Gautam a happy married life. He eventually finds Devadas near his car and brings the rabbit along. As Gautam marries Nandini, Abhiram drives to the waterfall where she once proposed, but Devadas dies along the way. The film ends with Abhiram burying Devadas’s body near the edge of the waterfall, leaving behind a quiet, heartrending moment of memory and loss.
