Mr. Crocket

In 1993, a young boy named Darren Harper finds himself captivated by Mr. Crocket’s World, a children’s program hosted by the enigmatic Mr. Crocket alongside his vibrant puppets, Boogaloo Blue and Squawky Bird. The fascination begins when a VHS tape of the show mysteriously appears in a mailbox just outside his home. This seemingly innocent discovery quickly spirals into a nightmare when, during a tense dinner, Darren is subjected to verbal abuse from his stepfather, Kevin. In a shocking turn of events, Mr. Crocket suddenly emerges from the television, exacting brutal vengeance on Kevin, before vanishing with Darren, leaving his terrified mother, Rhonda, to grapple with the horror of what just transpired.

Fast forward one year, and we meet Summer, who is struggling to handle her misbehaving son, Major, in the aftermath of her husband Jerrel’s tragic passing. During this tumultuous time, Rhonda, now homeless, approaches Summer with urgent warnings about the dark figure of Mr. Crocket. The same mailbox that once delivered the tape now appears at Summer’s residence, and she unwittingly hands it over to Major. Soon after, Mr. Crocket strikes again, this time killing a drug addict named Bill and abducting his daughter, Carey, while she innocently watches the very same tape.

As Major’s obsession with the show deepens, Summer finds herself in a desperate outburst wishing to renounce her role as his mother. That fateful night, Mr. Crocket reappears and kidnaps Major, pulling him through a portal created with a magical marker. Upon discovering Bill’s demise, Summer connects the dots between Carey’s abduction and her own son. Driven by a mother’s love, she dives into research and uncovers the eerie truth about Mr. Crocket—his full name being Emmanuel Crocket, a former local children’s television host whose life ended in a tragic police shootout after he was wrongly accused of kidnapping a young Anthony Williams in 1979.

In her quest for answers, Summer encounters Eddie Briggs, a father who shares her plight, asserting that Mr. Crocket had previously taken his daughter. They follow a lead to Rhonda, who has set up camp amidst a fortress of televisions. There, Rhonda reveals an unsettling truth: Mr. Crocket’s sinister powers are linked to the airwaves, and she has developed a telekinetic bond to sense his movements. Together, this trio launches an assault against Mr. Crocket, who retaliates with lethal force by stabbing Rhonda, while Summer and Eddie step through his portal, plunging into an unsettling alternative version of Mr. Crocket’s World. Here, they find Major, Darren, Carey, and a host of other children trapped within Mr. Crocket’s grasp.

In the dread-filled atmosphere, Mr. Crocket shares his painful past, detailing how he murdered his abusive father and disguised the crime as an accident. Motivated by the intention to protect neglected children, he transformed into a beloved figure on television, only to meet Anthony—someone who had similarly suffered. A tragic misunderstanding led to Mr. Crocket’s death during an encounter with the police, who misinterpreted his intentions as a kidnapping. In his afterlife, he struck a deal with the Devil: to reclaim his life with supernatural abilities in exchange for delivering the souls of abusive parents.

In a shocking revelation, Eddie unveils his true identity as Anthony, admitting he has been orchestrating events to reunite with Mr. Crocket. However, Mr. Crocket coldly rejects him for his loss of childhood innocence, leading to Eddie’s gruesome fate at the hands of Boogaloo Blue. In a heart-wrenching moment, Mr. Crocket presents Major with a choice—his mother, Summer, or himself. Torn between love and the allure of power, Major ultimately chooses Mr. Crocket and is handed a knife meant to kill Summer. But as Summer professes her love, the knife transforms into the magical marker, granting her the means to confront Mr. Crocket. With a swift stroke, she slices him in half, providing a pathway for Major and the captive children to escape back to reality, while Mr. Crocket ominously vows retribution.

In a bittersweet reunion, Rhonda finds Darren alive, while Summer watches her relationship with Major grow stronger—both ready to resume what semblance of normal life they can muster. However, as time passes, signs indicate that Major’s increasingly aggressive behavior is alarming those around him, as chilling tales about his new “father” circulate among his peers. With mounting dread, Summer begins to realize that the insidious influence of Mr. Crocket still lingers, and in his pursuit of power, Major retrieves the marker, ready to reopen the nightmarish portal.
