Karan, a poor countryside mechanic, decides to seek work in Dubai so he can earn enough to marry off his daughter Suman. He entrusts Suman to his old friend Kishan and heads abroad. Suman stays with Kishan, hopeful for a better future for herself and her family.

Suman moves into Kishan's city house while her father is away. Prem, Kishan's young son, befriends her and insists that a boy and a girl can be just friends. He also takes Suman to Seema's party where the tensions start to rise.

At Seema's party, Jeevan humiliates Suman and Prem and accuses them of feigning friendship to trap Prem into wealth. Suman leaves the party in tears, and the couple's tentative closeness is strained. The incident foreshadows the social obstacles they will face.

Following the party, Prem and Suman realize they have fallen in love with each other. They begin to see a future together despite the judgment of their circles. The moment marks a turning point in their relationship.

Prem's mother Kaushalya probes the relationship and approves Suman as her daughter-in-law. Kishan, influenced by Ranjeet's insinuations, disapproves, believing Karan to be of lower status. The pressure from Ranjeet begins to drive a wedge between families.

Kishan confronts Suman and asks her to leave his house, rejecting the match. Karan returns from abroad and is furious at Kishan's mistreatment of his daughter, defending Suman's integrity. Tensions rise as loyalties clash.

Karan and Kishan quarrel and part ways, each blaming the other for the rift. They both return to their village deeply humiliated by the acrimony and social pressure surrounding Suman and Prem. The family estrangement sets the stage for Prem's vow.

Hearing of the fallout, Prem goes to the village and begs to be allowed to marry Suman. Karan imposes a condition: Prem must prove he can support his wife through his own effort and live separately. Prem accepts the challenge with resolve.

Prem begins working as a truck driver and labourer in a nearby quarry to earn the required amount. After a month, he has secured the funds he needs, demonstrating his determination. On the way to Karan's house, he is ambushed by Jeevan and ruffians, and his wages are ruined in the fight.

Karan harshly dismisses Prem's claim about the attack and the money, doubting his son's young friend could truly earn a living. Prem pleads for another chance, showing his persistence and sincerity. Moved by his determination, Karan finally agrees to allow Suman to marry Prem.

Meanwhile, Ranjeet goes to Kishan and claims that Karan killed his son. Distrustful, Kishan travels to Karan's village to verify the rumor, only to discover Prem safe and sound. The manipulation deepens the rift but also spurs a final coalition.

Jeevan and supporters abduct Suman, forcing Prem, Karan, and Kishan to unite against a common enemy. They set out to defeat Ranjeet and Jeevan, reclaiming Suman and restoring their families' honor. The confrontation shifts to the village and the mines.

Prem and Jeevan confront each other on a cliff while Suman clings to a branch. Prem fights to save her, lowering himself by rope and battling Jeevan. A dove, the same one Suman once spared, pecks Jeevan in the face and he falls as a mining explosion rocks the site.

With Jeevan defeated and Ranjeet's schemes exposed, Karan and Kishan's estrangement ends. Prem and Suman marry and begin a hopeful life together, and the two families reconcile in the aftermath.
