Near Poona, a wealthy widower Ramlal leads a comfortable life with his two daughters and a son. His daughter Malti is a science graduate; Nirmala is a matriculate, and his son Atma dreams of financing a Hindi film under the banner of Wah Wah Productions. He even signs up Meena Priyadarshini, the daughter of Ramlal’s estate manager, to play the female lead. Ramlal wants his daughters to marry into wealthier families, so he hires Ashok Verma as the estate’s assistant manager, but fires him after accusing him of misbehaving with his daughters. Ashok protests by putting up a tent in Ramlal’s front yard.
Shyam, a friend of Ashok, arrives in disguise as an elderly man and introduces himself as Rai Bahadur Ganga Prasad, claiming he is the wealthy, estranged father of Ashok. Ramlal seizes this opportunity and asks Rai Bahadur to bring Ashok to marriage with one of his daughters. Ashok and his father reconcile, and Verma decides to marry Nirmala. Then another visitor arrives: Devraj, a wealthy elder who knew Ramlal in school, and he arranges for Malti to marry his son. Ramlal, excited, introduces Devraj to Rai Bahadur and starts preparations for both marriages.
But the plan unravels. Devraj’s arrival coincides with the revelation that the man he met earlier might not be who he claimed to be, and Rai Bahadur Ganga Prasad is a fraud. Ashok and Shyam are arrested for cheating Ramlal, throwing the family into chaos. Slowly, truths come to light and misunderstandings are cleared. The families rediscover trust, forgiveness, and eventually unite, finding happiness together as the younger generation pursues its dreams and the elder generation learns to let go of deceit.
Across the narrative, the film blends humor with heartfelt moments and musical interludes, painting a portrait of ambition, identity, and reconciliation. The ensemble cast brings energy and warmth to a story where appearances clash with reality, yet love, loyalty, and family ties ultimately prevail.
