In the final act the truth behind Zootopia’s climate‑control system finally erupts. Armed with this knowledge, Gary’s quest becomes a race to retrieve the hidden patent. With Judy’s tenacity and Nick’s street‑wise daring, they breach the mansion’s vault and secure the document. At the same moment Pawbert Lynxley—initially presented as a clumsy, sympathetic heir—reveals his own treachery. Pretending to help the heroes, he actually intends to destroy the patent and scapegoat Gary once more, hoping the act will finally earn his ruthless family’s approval. He abandons Gary in the freezing tunnels, poisons Judy, and tries to frame a snake, echoing his ancestors’ crimes.

The confrontation reaches its climax when Judy, barely recovered, confronts Pawbert. Though he tries to justify his betrayal as a desperate bid for acceptance, his confession only underscores how the corrupt system has corrupted even those who appear well‑meaning. In a decisive moment, Captain Hoggbottom and Mayor Winddancer intervene, refusing lethal force and turning the tide against the Lynxleys. The patent is exposed to the public, proving Agnes’s authorship and exonerating the reptile community.

With the evidence laid bare, the Lynxley dynasty collapses, their control over the city’s districts dissolves, and the walls that sealed off reptile neighborhoods are torn down. Reptiles are welcomed back, the climate‑control system is rightfully credited to its true inventor, and Zootopia begins to heal the divisions that had allowed the conspiracy to thrive. The film ends on a hopeful note: Judy and Nick, having reconciled their differences and trusted each other, stand ready to protect a city that finally chooses unity over prejudice.
