Rani Kashyap Saxena steps outside to feed the dogs when her home suddenly erupts in a violent explosion. Fire and debris swallow the scene as responders discover a charred body with a severed hand. In the present day, investigators begin piecing together how the blast happened, while flashbacks hint at buried motives and a troubled history.

Police, aware of Rani and Rishu's turbulent past, focus their case on motive and opportunity. They run polygraph tests and study surveillance footage that shows Neel escaping the house moments before the explosion. Rani's polygraph reveals deception, reinforcing investigators' suspicions but leaving the exact truth unresolved.

In a flashback, the arranged marriage between Rani and Rishu unfolds. Rishu falls for Rani at once, while she marries him mainly because her previous boyfriend abandoned her. Their families remain wary as the newlyweds navigate awkwardness and distrust in the early days.

The next day, Rishu overhears Rani telling her mother and aunt about his failure to consummate the marriage. The revelation wounds his pride and seeds doubt about their future. He withdraws emotionally, and the couple's harmony quickly deteriorates.

Neel Tripathi, a charming cousin, arrives and immediately attracts Rani's attention. The two begin a passionate affair, and Rani even learns how to cook mutton despite being vegetarian. Their illicit relationship deepens while Rishu remains unaware or unwilling to acknowledge it.

Rani tells Neel that she would like to marry him, but Neel panics and flees. Hurt and conflicted, Rishu develops a quiet dislike for her yet continues to protect her from judgment. The tension between desire, loyalty, and fear of commitment continues to simmer.

Rani finally tells Rishu the truth about Neel, triggering a drastic shift as he transforms into a sadist who harms Rani and tries to kill Neel. Neel fights back and knocks Rishu out before the situation spirals further. Rani endures the abuse, torn between love and fear.

Over time, Rani and Rishu begin to reconcile and genuinely fall in love again. Their renewed bond grows stronger, and they become intimate once more as trust slowly returns. The past violence is overshadowed by a fragile, evolving relationship.

Narrating the events of the day, Rani tells the police that Neel came over and an argument ensued. Rishu, wanting to settle things, asks her to wait outside, and the explosion occurs soon after. The police recognize inconsistencies but fail to find concrete evidence against her during polygraph testing.

It is revealed that Neel had attempted to blackmail them with sex tapes. Enraged, Rishu attacks Neel and a fight ensues, which ends with Rani striking Neel with a mutton leg as he overpowers them both. To avoid jail, they stage the crime: Rishu cuts off his own hand, places it beside Neel's body, rigs the gas stove to explode, and Rani feeds the mutton leg to the dogs before slipping away.

Five years pass, and a police inspector, about to leave town, buys a copy of a murder-thriller book that Rani had referenced. Reading it, he slowly realizes the real story but feels powerless to intervene. The ending shows the couple still together, with Rishu missing his left hand as a permanent reminder of the deed.
