Amirchand, a father burdened with the chaos caused by his two mischievous sons Sonu and Monu, struggles to maintain a semblance of order in their household. From the very beginning, the boys’ penchant for mischief is evident—they frequently devise pranks, often with the aim of stealing money from their father. One of their earliest schemes involves calling Amirchand and pretending to be gangsters who demand a hefty ransom if he wishes to stay alive. However, this plan quickly unravels when Amirchand reveals he is actually the taxi driver in which they were attempting to escape.
The story deepens as the boys conspire to marry off their father to Shakuntala, with whom they manage to secure an advance dowry of one lakh rupees from her brother Jamnadas. Yet, their plans fall apart when Amirchand refuses to entertain the alliance, refusing to meet Jamnadas or accept Shakuntala’s proposal. With his traditional values and firm stance, Amirchand warns his sons that if they desire to remain in his home, they must take life more seriously. He advises Monu to find work in an office and suggests Sonu should travel to Goa to recover some money he had lent to a friend.
During these developments, Sonu encounters Ritu, a girl at a girls’ hostel, with whom he flirts over the phone, while Monu continues with his antics by calling a man named Gulzarilal Verma and mistakenly ends up meeting his daughters, Pooja and Ritu. Both Sonu and Monu unexpectedly fall in love with Pooja and Ritu respectively. Eager to unite their brothers with their love interests, Sonu and Monu plan a marriage arrangement, with Sonu disguising himself as an uncle and calling Monu to Goa for the wedding. However, their plans lead to chaos when Gulzarilal’s sister, Santho, also falls in love with Monu, who is still pretending to be their uncle.
The confusion escalates further when Sonu and Monu, trying to escape from the complications, throw a dummy of Uncle off a cliff, only to be mistakenly arrested for the supposed murder of the non-existent uncle. Their father Amirchand, along with Gulzarilal, rushes to Goa upon learning of the situation. To their surprise, Amirchand and Gulzarilal turn out to be long-lost friends, which leads to a series of comic misunderstandings and unexpected twists. Just as they are about to settle matters, they are kidnapped by a criminal known as Bhai. Demonstrating their bravery and cleverness, Sonu and Monu escape from detention with the help of Bhootnath, rescuing their father and father-in-law-to-be, and ultimately proving their worth and sincerity.
Throughout this hilarious and chaotic adventure, the story emphasizes themes of family bonds, love, and the importance of taking life more seriously—underlining that even the wildest spirits can grow to become responsible and caring sons.
