Red: The Dark Side

Neil Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, is a lonely billionaire with a serious heart condition who needs a heart transplant. He discovers a donor whose death leaves behind the widow Anahita Saxena Celina Jaitly, and he begins to learn the tangled story surrounding her late husband. Anahita tells him that her husband Anuj Saxena (the donor) had an affair with her friend Amrita Arora Ria Malhotra, but when he changed his mind and decided to return to Anahita, Ria couldn’t bear it and threatened to kill both. Anahita also suggests that Ria may be responsible for his death, and she’s vulnerable because Ria’s friend Rocky Amin Hajee harasses her.

Ria enters the house, and a volatile confrontation unfolds. Anahita tries to kill Ria, but Neil stops her from acting on the impulse. In the heat of the moment, Neil and Anahita share a charged kiss, leaving them both with guilt as they fade into a dangerous, escalating attraction. They meet again, and Anahita slaps him in a moment of anger, yet the attraction persists. They both acknowledge a powerful, taboo lust for each other and end up having sex for hours, losing themselves in a dangerous passion.

One night, after their secret encounter, Neil murders Rocky to protect his lover. The tension deepens when Neil rapes Anahita; however, the encounter is portrayed as initially coercive but later presented as consensual in the course of the story. The subsequent investigation begins to tighten around Neil when Arshad ACP Abhay Rastogi Sushant Singh finds a watch belonging to Neil, raising questions about his involvement and motives. The couple struggles to stay ahead of the police, trying to maintain their dangerous liaison while the clock ticks toward discovery.

As the pursuit intensifies, Neil makes a decisive move toward Ria, but a shocking truth emerges: Anahita is the real instigator. She killed her husband because he wanted to leave her and marry Ria, orchestrating his death through Rocky to make it look like an accident. Neil is left reeling as he learns that he had been used for her power and lust, not love. He confronts Anahita and reveals that he never poisoned Anahita’s drink, a revelation that turns the entire dynamic on its head and exposes the extent of Anahita’s manipulation.

Heartbroken and outraged, Neil confronts the consequences of her betrayal and ultimately cooperates with the authorities, clearing his name. In the aftermath, he confides in Ria that he had never poisoned Anahita’s drink, and that fear and guilt—rather than any deliberate act—drove Anahita to her demise. The truth reshapes the story’s ending: the dangerous web of lies unravels, leaving Neil to come to terms with what happened and to face a new reality where loyalty, betrayal, and consequence intersect in a high-stakes moral drama.
