The film opens with Violet Gates being brutally attacked by her abusive husband Blake. In a terrifying moment, he puts a gun in her hands, urging her to shoot him, which leaves her screaming in fear before the situation resolves.

Years later, Violet has moved to Chicago with her young son Toby, seeking to escape her past. She has taken a new job dedicated to helping other victims of domestic abuse while trying to build a new life for her family.

Violet has been chatting with Henry Campbell, a photographer for the mayor’s office, through a dating app. They arrange to meet for their first date, with Violet feeling anxious yet hopeful about the encounter.

Violet’s younger sister, Jen, arrives to babysit Toby while Violet goes on her date. Jen reassures Violet that Henry will not be like Blake, giving her a momentary sense of confidence as she prepares.

Violet arrives at the restaurant Palate, which has a stunning view from its high floor. After a brief wait, she orders a drink at the bar and encounters various patrons who mistake her intentions.

Violet deals with unwanted attention from a man named Richard, who mistakenly believes she is his date. Meanwhile, she receives bizarre messages on her phone from an app called digiDROP, hinting at something sinister.

When Henry arrives, things take a dark turn when the Dropper alerts Violet that her phone has been cloned, and he can see her. He threatens Toby’s life if she does not comply with his orders.

Under duress, Violet is forced to retrieve incriminating evidence from Henry's camera and is ordered to poison his drink. This forces her to come up with clever ways to keep him distracted while she plots to save them both.

Violet discovers that Richard, who has been stalking her throughout the night, is the mastermind behind the Dropper's threats. He reveals that her actions are being monitored, and that Henry is in grave danger due to his commitment to bringing down corrupt officials.

As the tension escalates, Violet manages to turn the tables on Richard. She cleverly slips the poison into his dessert while implicating that she's adhering to the Dropper's demands, revealing her resilience under pressure.

After realizing he has been poisoned, Richard opens fire in the restaurant. Chaos ensues as Violet uses her surroundings cleverly to defend herself and others, showcasing her transformation from victim to survivor.

Violet rushes home through treacherous traffic after the encounter. Meanwhile, her sister Jen and son Toby face their own peril when the Masked Man confronts them, leading to a fierce struggle for survival.

Back at home, Violet fights off the Masked Man, demonstrating her strength and determination as a mother. With Toby's help, she defeats him, reclaiming control over her life and safety.

Richard's murder plot is revealed, leading to the arrest of both him and the mayor. The community grapples with the fallout while Violet finds solace in her rekindled relationship with Henry.
