Ethan McCoy, portrayed by Nick Nolte, works for the DEA and is conducting a search within a desolate, burned-down house, on the lookout for Cain, played by Josh Duhamel. After failing to find any leads, he instructs his DEA team to locate Cain at all costs. In a dramatic turn of events, we see Cain escaping the house mere moments before it explodes, pursued by a group of armed attackers, resulting in his car being blown up as he flees.

As the scene shifts, we find John Cain waking up in a Mexican hospital. He is disoriented and has no recollection of his identity or the events that led him there. Beside him is a woman named Anna, played by Abbie Cornish, who claims to be his spouse. Alongside them is Eddie, a supposed friend played by Omar Chaparro, who vows to assist Cain in recovering his lost memories. In a bold move, Eddie threatens the attending doctor, demanding that he helps Cain regain his memory, even resorting to blackmail against the doctor’s family.

Anna reveals that Cain was born on December 2, 1972, in Boulder, Colorado. As fragments of Cain’s memory begin to resurface, he starts to sense that those around him are not as they appear. He comes to the unsettling realization that Anna may not be his real wife. Each time he recalls a memory, he notices the doctor administering sedatives, intensifying his suspicions. In a moment of desperation, he confronts the doctor and attempts to flee the hospital with Anna.

However, Eddie and his henchmen soon track Cain down, forcing him into hiding within the hospital’s confines. Anna discloses that Eddie is deeply involved in drug trafficking and the two men shared a complicated history in illicit deals. Unconvinced of Anna’s story, Cain restrains her to a chair while he confronts Eddie’s men, grappling with the chaos around him.

In a shocking twist, the doctor leads Cain to a secluded cabin where he uncovers crucial information about a case he possessed prior to his hospitalization. This case, which Cain originally stole from General Mondejo—head of the army and a key figure to the drug cartels—has drawn the attention of Eddie, who has been trying to recover it. The doctor confesses that he has been helping Cain, tormented by Eddie for years.

Eventually, Cain contacts McCoy, who reveals that he has been undercover in Eddie’s organization for five years. With this newfound knowledge, Cain realizes that his life is steeped in deception, his memory shrouded with lies and manipulated truths. Anna continues to insist that he was reportedly recruited by the CIA.

A confrontation with Eddie’s men ensues, making it clear that the stakes are getting higher. As tension escalates, it’s revealed that General Mondejo offered $20 million for the case, and that Cain had double-crossed him. In the midst of the chaos, Cain manages to escape Eddie’s clutches and reunite with Anna.

In a climactic moment, he learns the shocking reality that the case holds “the names and addresses of the Illuminati,” entities that possess a crippling influence over global affairs. Anna emphasizes, > “It’s about order,” illustrating the potential chaos that could ensue if such information falls into the wrong hands. Their survival hinges on keeping the case from being housed by any single organization, suggesting that it should be locked away for safekeeping or destroyed entirely.

As Cain regains fragments of his past, he recalls a romantic relationship with Anna. With newfound resolve, he confronts the remaining henchmen of Eddie, neutralizing their threat just as McCoy arrives with reinforcements. However, shocking revelations unfold—McCoy also has sinister intentions towards the case and believes Anna is working for him. In a fierce showdown, Anna proves her loyalty to Cain as they fight back against McCoy and his men.

In the end, Cain and Anna escape with the valuable case, even as a bullet grazes McCoy, leaving him injured but alive. Their tumultuous journey raises questions about power, loyalty, and the lengths one will go to protect secrets that have the potential to disrupt the world’s balance.
