At the climax of the film, Violet manages to outsmart Richard, the man behind the threatening drops. She tricks him into thinking she has taken the poisoned shot when, in reality, she has secretly replaced it with a safe one, and she later slips poison into her dessert instead of her drink. When Richard realizes he’s been duped, he becomes furious and opens fire in the restaurant, leading to a chaotic shootout. During the chaos, Violet uses a hockey puck to shatter the restaurant window, causing Richard to be pulled outside by the pressure wave and fall to his death. Violet is left hanging from the high-rise but is saved when Henry pulls her back inside just in time.

Violet then rushes home to find her sister and son in a dire state—her sister shot in the torso and her son hiding under the bed. Despite intense violence in her home, Violet seizes the moment, retrieves a gun from her son’s remote-controlled car, and manages to shoot and kill the man attacking them, protecting her family.

In the aftermath, the truth behind the conspiracy unravels: Richard’s plan was to silence Henry, a key FBI informant exposing corruption involving the mayor. Richard believed Violet had already killed her abusive ex-husband and used that as an excuse to frame her for Henry’s murder, but the flashbacks reveal her ex-husband’s death was actually a suicide, not a murder.

Finally, the mayor’s corruption scandal is exposed, and Violet’s bravery leads to justice. She visits Henry in the hospital, where they share a quiet, happy moment over a milkshake, hinting at a new, calmer beginning. The movie ends with the promise of a more peaceful future for Violet and her family, having survived an extraordinary night of danger and deception.
