Boot Camp

This film follows Sophie and a group of unruly teenagers who are sent to rehabilitation boot camp after their parents decide they need firm structure. The camp is run by the stern Dr. Hail and sits on a remote island in Fiji. With no walls to physically stop an escape, the turbulent sea surrounds the camp, making freedom feel risky and far away. To enforce discipline, each teen wears an ankle cuff with a sensor that alerts security if they try to run. The core group includes Ben, Danny, and Trina as they navigate the harsh regime and the complex power dynamics among the staff and the other teens.

As tensions rise, Sophie grows more defiant, and when Ben joins her, they attempt an escape to a nearby island. The breakout is short-lived; they are recaptured, and Ben is told he will be sent home, heightening the stakes for the group.

During a routine swim, Logan leads the male teens into the water, but Danny, who cannot swim, drowns. Logan then pressures Ben to help cover up the death, threatening solitary confinement if he refuses.

Sophie discovers that Logan has raped Trina. She reveals this to the others, and many of the teens recount similar coercive behavior from Logan, including the offer of yellow shirts in exchange for sex. As the group processes the revelations, Sophie shifts the focus toward Dr. Hail, while Ben bluntly reminds the teens that this camp has seen deaths before.

The teens erupt in anger and burn down the entire campsite. They also seek out Logan, who dies when his Toyota Land Cruiser crashes into a burning building. With the camp in chaos, Hail tries to shoot at the rioters, only to find his gun is not loaded, and he is tossed into solitary confinement while authorities close in.

As the film fades, the teenagers celebrate their hard-won freedom and swim in the ocean. A final onscreen message notes that since the 1970s, when these types of camps were introduced in real life, more than 40 deaths have occurred.
