Naina Sethi, portrayed by Taapsee Pannu, is an accomplished young businesswoman leading a seemingly perfect life. However, her world spirals into chaos when she finds herself arrested for the murder of her secret lover, Arjun, played by Tony Luke. In her desperate bid to prove her innocence, she enlists the help of her attorney Jimmy, interpreted by Manav Kaul, who emphasizes the urgency of her situation and secures the services of renowned defense lawyer, Amitabh Bachchan, as Badal Gupta.

As they delve into the mystery surrounding Arjun’s death, Badal warns Naina that a witness has come forward, leading to her impending arrest. Naina recounts the harrowing events leading to the murder, revealing that both she and Arjun were subjected to blackmail regarding their affair. Summoned to a remote hotel room and instructed to bring cash, Naina receives a chilling text from Arjun’s phone warning her of the impending exposure of their secrets. Out of nowhere, she is attacked and subsequently loses consciousness.

Upon awakening, she discovers Arjun dead, the ransom money scattered around, and the police at her door. Despite Naina’s protests of innocence, the lack of evidence supports her guilt. The only leads available are vague and point to a missing youth, Sunny Singh Toor, and as Badal digs deeper, he grows suspicious of Naina’s transparency. She reveals a troubling narrative involving a previous accident where they had tragically hit a deer, leading to Sunny’s untimely death.

Panic ensues as she and Arjun concoct a plan to evade the law, but when Sunny’s parents, Rani Kaur Toor and Nirmal Toor “Nimbi”, discover Naina’s deceit and suspicion arises, her troubles compound. To complicate matters, they entice law enforcement to investigate Naina, leading her to resort to deceit to clear her name.

As the layers of her story unfurl, Naina finds herself on a precarious edge—caught between her past decisions and the weight of her guilt, amid a web of lies that embroils her deeper into chaos. With each revelation, Badal tries to leverage her narrative by shifting blame and suggesting plausible motives, urging her to hide the truth of her actions.

Just when it appears Naina might find a route to redemption, Badal’s confrontational tactics lead her to confess her involvement in the murder of Arjun. In a surprising twist, it becomes evident that Badal has been playing a game of manipulation, using Naina’s trust against her. In a climactic confrontation, Naina uncovers that she has been deceived by a disguised Nirmal Toor posing as Badal.

The haunting finale resonates with themes of morality and justice, as Nirmal quotes ancient wisdom from the Mahabharata, illustrating the complexity of revenge and forgiveness. The final scene leaves viewers reflecting on the thin line separating righteous vengeance from moral ambiguity, encapsulating the essence of Naina’s tragic journey.
