Yasuko Hanaoka, a divorced, single mother who runs a small restaurant, shares a simple life with her teenage daughter, Misato. Nearby, the reclusive yet brilliant mathematics teacher, Tetsuya Ishigami, moves in as a quiet, thoughtful neighbor who brightens his days with exchanges over meals he buys from Yasuko.
