The Message

Muhammad is visited by the angel Gabriel, who delivers a divine mandate to begin teaching and spreading the Quran. The moment is shocking to him, marking the birth of his prophethood and the start of a new religious era.

Muhammad dispatches invitations to accept Islam to nearby rulers, including Heraclius of Byzantium, Muqawqis of Alexandria, and Kisra of the Sasanian Empire. The film frames this as a peaceable outreach to the great powers of the time.

A small group in Mecca begins to embrace Islam, drawing attention from the city’s authorities. As the number grows, so does pressure and hostility toward the new believers.

Persecution and confiscation of possessions drive some followers to seek refuge in Abyssinia under the protection of its Christian king. The community faces hardship but remains steadfast in their faith.

The Muslims migrate north to Medina, where they are warmly welcomed and establish the first mosque in the city, the Quba Mosque. This move marks a turning point in the Muslim community’s organization and safety.

In Medina, the community learns that their possessions are being sold back in Mecca. Muhammad strategizes with a preference for peace, but the community receives permission to take defensive action when necessary.

The Muslims face the Meccan army at Badr and secure a decisive victory despite being outmatched. The win strengthens the fledgling community and boosts its morale.

The Meccans march to avenge Badr with a much larger force. The Muslims lose key allies and Hamza is killed, and a lapse in discipline allows the Meccan cavalry to strike from behind, leading to a setback for Muhammad’s followers.

After the battles, a ten-year truce is negotiated between Mecca and Medina, offering temporary peace but leaving residual tensions beneath the surface. The agreement reshapes the region’s balance of power.

Khalid ibn Walid, a renowned Meccan general who had fought Muslims, converts to Islam. His switch strengthens the Muslim position and signals a shift in loyalties among the tribes of the region.

Muslim camps in the desert are attacked at night, and Abu Sufyan arrives in Medina to insist the attackers were robbers who breached the truce. The Muslims refuse to give him an audience, asserting that the treaty must be honored.

An overwhelming Muslim expedition leads to the surrender of Mecca with minimal bloodshed. The Kaaba is cleared of idols, and the city comes under Muslim control.

The first azan is proclaimed from the Kaaba by Bilal, symbolizing a new era of worship in Mecca. The Farewell Sermon is delivered, outlining guidance and ethics for the growing Muslim community.

The narrator reflects on Islam’s enduring legacy, followed by footage of worshippers performing tawaf around the Kaaba. The end credits show mosques worldwide with the adhan echoing as Muslims pray together.
