In 1944, in the bleak context of German-occupied Poland, a young boy, merely 13 years old, is torn away from his parents as he is forced into a concentration camp. In a desperate attempt to reunite with his family, he tries to sneak back in after the gates close but is firmly restrained by four guards. Suddenly, the gates begin to buckle inward, seemingly drawn by some magnetic force, before the boy is knocked unconscious by a guard’s brutal strike.

Fast forward to present day, we meet Marie, portrayed by Anna Paquin, who is engrossed in studies with her boyfriend in their home located in Meridian, Mississippi. A tender moment escalates quickly when a passionate hug turns into a near-tragic incident, leaving him in a state of shock. Panic-stricken upon witnessing her mother’s entrance, Marie decides to flee her home, setting the stage for a thrilling new adventure.

In Congress, the situation grows tense as Senator Robert Kelly, played by Bruce Davison, pushes for the “Mutant Registration Act.” This controversial legislation aims to force mutants to reveal their identities and powers publicly, igniting tensions between mutants and humans. Meanwhile, the enigmatic Magneto, brought to life by Ian McKellen, sets in motion a plan that aims to shift the balance of power in favor of mutants, further emboldened by the looming threat of human oppression.

As fate would have it, Marie, who later adopts the moniker Rogue, crosses paths with Wolverine, a character portrayed by Hugh Jackman, in a local Canadian bar. Rogue’s unique ability grants her the power to temporarily absorb the abilities of any mutant she touches. On the other hand, Wolverine boasts superhuman healing prowess, enhanced senses, and retractable metal claws that extend from his knuckles. Their encounter, however, is abruptly interrupted when Sabretooth, played by Tyler Mane, an ally of Magneto, attacks them. Just in time, Cyclops (James Marsden) and Storm (Halle Berry) swoop in for the rescue and whisk them away to the X-Mansion.

Led by Professor Charles Xavier, portrayed by Patrick Stewart, the X-Men reside at the mansion, dedicated to fostering harmony between mutants and humans, educating new mutants on the responsible use of their powers, and thwarting Magneto’s impending war against humanity. The tension escalates further when Senator Kelly is abducted by Mystique (Rebecca Romijn-Stamos) and Toad (Ray Park), and subjected to a harrowing test that unnaturally induces a mutation within him, enabling him to escape the clutches of his captors.

However, with Rogue’s powers inexplicably activated during an incident involving Wolverine, she is misled by Mystique, who poses as her classmate Bobby Drake (Shawn Ashmore). Convinced that Xavier harbors anger towards her, she contemplates abandoning her newfound home. Using Cerebro, Xavier locates her at a train station, but Mystique cunningly infiltrates the system and sabotages it. During a chaotic confrontation at the station, Wolverine persuades Rogue to remain with Xavier, but the situation turns dire as Magneto and his cronies corner them, leading to a frantic escape to Xavier’s school.

As events unfold, the X-Men discover that Magneto has been weakened due to the machine tested on Kelly, prompting a race against time to save Rogue from becoming a pivotal part of Magneto’s ominous plan. In a gripping climax, the situation escalates on Liberty Island, where Magneto plans to use Rogue’s abilities in conjunction with his machine during a summit of world leaders. The confrontation culminates in a battle of epic proportions, where the X-Men, utilizing their unique powers, must thwart Magneto’s nefarious intentions.

As the dust settles, after a nail-biting struggle, Wolverine sacrifices himself to save Rogue, transferring his healing powers to her just in the nick of time. With Professor Xavier awakening from his coma, they all learn of Mystique’s impressive ability to recuperate from injuries, as she cunningly impersonates Senator Kelly in a news report.

In a quest to unravel more about his mysterious past, Xavier dispatches Wolverine to a military installation near Alkali Lake, while he visits Magneto confined within his plastic prison. As they engage in their iconic game of chess, Magneto ominously hints at his relentless fight against humanity, promising Xavier that he will persist, while Xavier reassures him that he and the X-Men will always be there to counter his designs.
