Dek is a Yautja runt from Yautja Prime who seeks his father, clan leader Njohrr, and the acceptance that has always eluded him. He vows to hunt the Kalisk, an apex predator rumored to be nearly invincible, on the deadly world known as Genna. Before he can depart, Njohrr arrives with a brutal command: Dek’s brother Kwei must be slain for showing weakness. Kwei refuses to comply, triggering a tragic sequence in which Njohrr remotely orders Dek’s transport to Genna and then executes Kwei right before Dek’s eyes. The clash of duty and kinship leaves Dek shaken, but it also steels his resolve to prove himself worthy of the clan.

Upon crash-landing on Genna, Dek faces a gauntlet of environmental hazards, from hostile flora to lurking fauna that seem tailored to test a warrior’s nerve and skill. He finds an unlikely ally in a damaged Weyland-Yutani android, Thia, whose own mission to capture the Kalisk has gone disastrously wrong. Thia offers help and knowledge, proposing to track the Kalisk together. Soon they’re joined by a native creature who Thia names Bud, a companion that unexpectedly marks Dek with its saliva, hinting at a bond that will matter in the battles to come. The drama intensifies as Thia’s “sister,” Tessa, is reactivated and begins tracking Dek’s group. Tessa’s presence adds a chilling, calculating edge to the pursuit, and she even raids Dek’s crash-landed ship to seize weaponry.

As Thia and Dek search Genna, they uncover the wreckage of her team and decide to contact Weyland-Yutani’s people to repair Thia’s systems. Dek, driven by necessity and a stubborn desire to outwit the Kalisk, ignites an oil spill to draw the predator out. What follows is a brutal clash: Dek manages to sever the Kalisk’s head in a brutal struggle, yet the creature regenerates and defeats him in the ensuing chase. The Kalisk’s survival doesn’t end Dek’s struggle, as the Weyland-Yutani team arrives, capturing both Dek and the Kalisk for study. Tessa uses this moment to experiment on Dek, but Thia steps in to interfere, while Tessa dismisses Thia’s feelings as a weakness and pushes forward with her own plan of preservation and control.

Thia’s intervention helps Dek escape, and he begins to understand a deeper truth: Bud is the Kalisk’s child, and the saliva that marked him hinted at a link between them. With this new insight, Dek commits to a bold plan: he will rescue both Thia and the Kalisk, even without his advanced Yautja arsenal. He improvises organic weapons from Genna’s own flora and fauna, turning the planet’s resources into tools of survival and retaliation. The momentum shifts as he and Bud mount an assault on Weyland-Yutani’s base, freeing Thia and allowing the Kalisk to escape while Thia coordinates the creature’s path of destruction through the facility. In a dramatic turn, Tessa enters a mechanical power loader, armed with Dek’s original plasmacaster, and engages the Kalisk in a fierce melee. Although Tessa is eventually devoured, she holds her line long enough for the Kalisk to be defeated by a final salvo of cryogenic grenades, delivered at Tessa’s hands.

The confrontation reaches a bitter crescendo when Dek, aided by Bud, confronts Tessa’s mortal danger and reclaim his weapon from the fallen foe. In a brutal, definitive moment, Dek destroys Tessa, and Bud tears off her head to ensure there’s no chance she returns. With the Kalisk defeated and the Kalisk’s offspring spared, Dek ushers in a fragile victory and a chance for a new family to emerge from the wreckage of the old.

Time passes, and Dek returns to Yautja Prime bearing a repaired companion in Thia and an older Bud. He arrives before Njohrr, presenting the skull of Tessa as a trophy and demanding the clan’s cloak—his right as a hunter who has earned his place. Njohrr rebuffs the claim, refusing to grant the cloak, and a heated duel ensues. Dek dispatches his bodyguards and defeats Njohrr in single combat. The old leader, newly generous in his bravado, offers a final bargain to avoid death, promising to reinstate Dek if he returns to the clan—but Dek refuses this conditional mercy. Budical resolve is further tested when Bud bites Njohrr’s head, claiming the cloak for Dek as the old leader falls. With the head of Njohrr in hand and a dawning sense of inevitability, the group readies for a larger confrontation when a massive ship appears off the horizon. Dek looks outward with a quiet certainty and declares that the ship is “his mother,” signaling a new, broader life that extends beyond the walls of the clan.
