Cayden is introduced as an average college student and football player who experiences a violent incident during a game when a rival player's head-butt prompts him to retaliate with superhuman strength. This event signifies the beginning of his transformation into a werewolf. The summary sets the stage for his normal life before the supernatural chaos unfolds.

Following an intense moment of passion with his girlfriend Lisa, Cayden transforms into a werewolf, causing him to hurt her. He then wakes up covered in blood, discovering the dismembered bodies of his parents around him. Panicked, he flees the scene as police arrive, marking a pivotal turning point in his life.

Cayden spends time wandering as a drifter, trying to suppress his lycanthropy and avoid detection. His aim is to keep his condition hidden while navigating a life on the run, unsure of how to control his emerging werewolf nature.

At a roadside bar, Cayden meets Wild Joe, who reveals himself as a werewolf and introduces Cayden to the existence of both purebred and bitten werewolves. Wild Joe explains that Cayden is a natural-born werewolf, and hints at a remote town called Lupine Ridge as a place to learn more about his origins.

Cayden travels to Lupine Ridge after learning about his true nature. He is met with hostility from the local townspeople but gets involved with Angel, the bar owner, and starts forming relationships that may help him understand his identity better.

Cayden faces hostility from the townspeople and leaves the bar after a confrontation. Outside, he meets John Tollerman, who hires him as a farmhand and begins to reveal more about the werewolf lore and Cayden's bloodline.

Cayden is approached by a wolf of his bloodline who warns him of danger. Later, Cayden witnesses the brutal murder of his cousin by Connor, the alpha werewolf, who then and his pack feast on the victim, escalating the conflict.

John reveals Cayden's origins, including his mother's tragic death and Connor’s dark past involving rape and love for Cayden's mother. Connor's desire to mate with Angel to produce an heir is uncovered, adding tension to Cayden’s relationships.

Cayden confronts the mountain werewolves to reveal his heritage, but Connor dismisses him and unleashes his pack. Cayden fights but is overwhelmed and escapes by jumping off a cliff, setting the stage for the final showdown.

Cayden and John devise a plan to kill Connor’s pack using explosives. Cayden kills two wolves and tricks the rest into a trap. This strategic attack prepares Cayden for the ultimate confrontation.

Cayden fights Connor in a fierce showdown and ultimately defeats him. During the fight, Connor reveals that he and Cayden’s mother loved each other, and his fabricated rape story was a lie meant to hide their true relationship.

Wild Joe confesses to orchestrating recent events, including killing Cayden’s adoptive parents, to incite revenge. He then kills Connor, but is himself killed by Cayden in the process, confirming Cayden’s victory.

Cayden decides to leave Lupine Ridge with Angel to explore the world and seek other werewolves. He promises to return to his friends, and John gives Cayden a scroll containing the bloodlines of purebred werewolves to aid in his future journey.
