In 1944, amidst the chaos of World War II, a chilling silence envelops a series of U.S. Marine outposts situated in the South Pacific. All communication has ceased, leaving behind an unsettling void with no survivors and no explanations. In a desperate bid for answers, the military turns to a troubled man named Reverend Alexander Conte, a whiskey-soaked occult specialist battling his own demons. Bereft of faith, he is nevertheless adept in scriptures and ancient curses, making him a unique asset for this dire mission.

Conte’s deployment sends him to a jungle island alongside a handpicked team comprised of misfits and outcasts: Richter, a battle-hardened mercenary; Elkins, a maniac who cannot part from his flamethrower; Ramirez, a Catholic zealot wielding a perpetually stained machete; Dr. Mallory, a meticulous yet frail occult historian; and Corporal Dax, the lone survivor from a previous operation, whose mind is now teetering on the brink of madness, haunted by mutterings about “howling gods with yellow eyes.”

As the team arrives under ominously overcast skies, the island feels strangely mute. The absence of birds or insects is palpable, with only rustling leaves to break the eerie stillness. Their initial exploration leads them to a deserted Marine outpost that tells a grim tale of horror; blood is splattered across the walls, severed limbs are ominously hung, and the haunting word “WEREWOLVES” is scratched into the wall with what appears to be a fingernail.

Later that evening, the team camps in a clearing and sets silver shrapnel traps along with UV flares, convinced they have prepared adequately. However, their resolve shatters when a blood-curdling scream pierces the night. Elkins is swiftly snatched from his hiding spot, leaving only a steaming torso behind and a gruesome trail of blood leading into the underbrush. The gruesome discovery of his head, ten feet above in a tree, forever engrained in their minds.

The adversaries that assail them are immense, bipedal creatures cloaked in fur and driven not just by the instinct to kill but also by the desire to hunt and toy with their victims. Ramirez bravely slashes one with his machete, only to find himself ambushed by two more. As they devour him, he frantically utters the Lord’s Prayer, only to be silenced before he can even finish.

In a frantic search for understanding, Conte steers the surviving members further into the jungle. They encounter Heirani, a woman embodying quiet strength and possessing a profound knowledge of the island’s cursed past. She recounts how her ancestors forged a pact with spirits of the moon during World War I, transforming valiant warriors into protectors. However, the cursed magic twisted their essence, turning them into relentless hunters, particularly during the nights lit by a haunting blue moon.

While navigating through this perilous encounter, they meet Major Murphy, who emanates an unsettlingly pale grace and carries the weight of centuries. A vampire who once served alongside Conte’s father, Murphy unveils the grim reality of their mission: it was never about rescue. The military’s true intention was to use the squad as a diversion, allowing others to search for Yamashita’s gold, a legendary treasure pilfered during the war. Conte’s team was always meant to be sacrificed for the greater gain.

As tension boils, Dr. Mallory, filled with desperation and the urge to survive, unearths an ancient tome in the remnants of a temple. In a critical misstep, he inadvertently conjures an ancient incantation that incites the pack of werewolves. In a shocking twist of fate, he is consumed, his last cries drowned in the cacophony of chaos as his bones are left glittering in the flickering firelight.

Conte’s reality shatters further when he realizes that the alpha werewolf leading the pack is none other than his own father, presumed dead long ago. Years prior, his father embarked on a similar endeavor, seeking to escape the curse but never returned. Now, the monster with glowing eyes and a recognizable scar commands a legion of vicious creatures.

Deep within the temple’s dark embrace, Conte confronts his father, battling not just the beast but also a torrent of memories and unresolved emotions. Claws meet flesh in a brutal struggle, with silver igniting the werewolf’s fur. Amid chaos and pain, Conte plunges a silver dagger, marked with a prayer he barely remembers, into his father’s heart. As the alpha perishes and reverts to human form, he whispers, “I saved you once,” with his dying breath.

Aware that the military will cover up the abhorrent truths, Murphy willingly decides to remain on the island to annihilate the temple, igniting a series of explosions with UV bombs and sacred ash. A faint smile forms on his lips as the flames consume him alongside the rest of the monstrous pack. Conte and Heirani emerge from this nightmare scarred, bruised, and irrevocably altered.

Back on the mainland, Conte faces debriefing from officials who express cold indifference, stating that no evidence or treasure was recovered. Cast aside as a madman, he grapples with the hidden truth. As he lights a cigarette with shaky hands, a shadowy figure draped in desert robes approaches, presenting a file. Within lie menacing images of mummies striding in Cairo and an ominous Nazi artifact radiating dark energy, hinting at another impending assignment. With a resigned sigh, Conte tucks away a silver bullet and murmurs, “Of course it’s not over.”
