Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies

During the museum robbery, a stray gunshot releases the fire opal containing the Djinn. Morgana Truscott steals the gem and shoots a museum guard, but must abandon the other burglar during the escape. The Djinn kills the remaining burglar when he wishes he had never been born. As police arrive, the Djinn assumes a human persona, Nathaniel Demerest, and surrenders to the authorities.

The Djinn's human host, Nathaniel Demerest, is taken into custody and the Djinn surrenders to the police. He presents himself as Nathaniel Demerest and signals his control of the situation, blending into the world of men as a suave figure.

That night, Morgana experiences dreams in which she glimpses the Djinn's true form, unsettling visions that hint at a larger destiny. The dreams blur memory and prophecy, leaving her unsettled about what she has unleashed.

Morgana goes to the church to confide in Gregory, a former lover who tends the church. She tells him that a man named Demerest confessed to the robbery and reveals details about the crime and her involvement.

In prison, Demerest begins offering wishes to inmates in exchange for their souls. He is confronted by Butz and the Tiger brothers, and he grants Butz's request for drugs in a way that leaves him brutalized by his own gang.

Demerest is temporarily sent to solitary confinement, as prison officials grow suspicious of him and his influence among the inmates. The rumors about his powers heighten tensions inside the facility.

Morgana studies Persian mythology, focusing on Ahura Mazda who is said to have bound the Djinn in the past. Her research deepens the sense that a ritual purge could banish the Djinn back to his prison.

Morgana goes to the prison to confront Demerest and demand why he confessed. He explains that he confessed to spare her, then reveals his true form and drives her away, shocking her with the depths of his power.

That evening, Morgana begins purifying rituals to cleanse her soul, believing that only a pure heart can banish the Djinn. The rituals set up the upcoming confrontation and reflect her resolve to stop him.

In a brutal turn, Demerest kills the prison warden Tillaver and escapes with Osip, a Russian inmate he befriended. As they drink, Morgana bursts in and shoots Demerest, but the wound seems to have no effect on him.

Gregory finds Morgana praying at the church altar and she laments that the guard she killed cannot be brought back. She worries that she can never hope to defeat the Djinn while carrying such guilt.

Gregory compiles notes revealing that the Djinn seeks 1,001 souls and discovers the incantation used by the alchemist who imprisoned him. The findings set the stage for the planned purge and the final confrontation.

In Las Vegas, the Djinn begins granting wishes to casino patrons in order to collect the remaining souls. The bustling casino environment provides cover for his growing power as the body count of souls rises.

Gregory and Morgana confront Demerest, with Gregory wishing for the Djinn to be sent back to hell. They are transported inside the fire opal, where Gregory is crucified. The Djinn recites the prophecy that after 1,001 souls are gathered, the one who awakens him will have three wishes, and after those wishes are granted, the Djinn's race will rule the Earth.

Morgana wishes for the guard she killed to be alive again, and she sees him restored. With the guard returned and her purity restored, she takes the fire opal and speaks the alchemist chant, Nib Sugaroth Baheim, banishing the Djinn once more and restoring life to the victims.
