Rajasekaran is introduced as a spoiled heir from a rich family who loves flaunting wealth. He constantly exploits his mother's affection, which irritates his father. He is a member of a flight club and performs dangerous aerial stunts to thrill himself and those around him.

Raja spots Devi, a sharp air-hostess, and tries to woo her. Devi bluntly insults him, yet he remains persistent and follows her around. He even visits her home to impress her family, but Devi’s brother Shankar and the family remain skeptical.

Raja learns that Devi is an acquaintance of his friend Prathap, who truly wants to marry Devi. This link complicates Raja's pursuit and intensifies his resolve to win her. Prathap’s interest adds a rival dynamic to the situation.

Raja befriends Baby, a senior air-hostess who secretly likes him and offers a plot to win Devi by making her jealous. She advises him to romance another girl to trigger Devi’s reaction. Raja agrees and begins to pursue the plan.

Baby brings in Radha, a former air-hostess who became a prostitute after being deceived. Raja pretends to be in love with Radha to make Devi jealous, but the plan does not work and Devi remains irritated. The ruse only deepens Devi's annoyance with him.

Raja's parents fix his marriage to Sandhiya, a friend of Devi. At the meeting, Raja hallucinates that Sandhiya is Devi and, in confusion, accepts the proposal. The mistake sets off a cascade of emotional tensions.

The next day, Sandhiya learns of Raja’s acceptance and contemplates suicide. Raja stops her and promises that he will not marry until she finds someone suitable. This pledge complicates Sandhiya’s future and the family’s plans.

Sandhiya’s marriage is fixed and she invites Devi to the wedding. Devi arrives and misreads Raja’s intent, insulting him at the ceremony. Raja’s friends vow revenge for Devi’s behavior, and he flees on a nonstop flight, seeking a dramatic confession of love.

Following the stormy wedding episode, Prathap proposes to Devi but she does not reciprocate. Shankar advocates for Prathap, yet the rest of the family, including Devi, ultimately favors Raja. The parents accept Raja and Devi’s bond, and the couple becomes engaged.

Raja and Devi begin inviting people to their wedding. Devi visits Sandhiya’s house and learns she has become widowed, with the truth about her husband’s illness concealed from her. Devi is angered by the selfishness of men and curses them for their behavior.

Raja is admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with cancer, though the truth is kept from him. Shankar, who is his doctor, postpones the wedding due to horoscope concerns, angering Raja. He demands Devi meet him at a temple to marry, and on the day he coughs up blood and is rushed to the hospital again.

Devi awaits Raja at the temple, but he fails to appear, and Prathap contemplates suicide after learning of the wedding invitations. Raja overhears Prathap confessing his love for Devi and decides to end his relationship with Devi so she can be free to marry Prathap.

Raja descends into drinking and moves in with Radha. Devi tries to bring him back, but Raja reveals his previous declaration of love was a revenge tactic—no man should be seen as the rightful husband of Devi. Devi, pushed by hurt, arranges for a marriage with Prathap, while Radha urges Raja to marry her.

Raja marries Radha, and Devi marries Prathap. Baby informs Devi of Raja’s illness, and she rushes to his side. Raja’s parents come to see him; when he finally sees Devi as a bride, he dies peacefully, accepting his fate with a sense of closure.
