The police enlist CID officer Vijaykumar to visit Ponvayal and unravel a growing mystery. On his train journey, a stranger boards and warns him to return, claiming the village goddess will wrath anyone who isn’t a local. The stranger fights with him and leaps off the train, leaving Vijaykumar wary of what awaits in Ponvayal.

Upon arrival, Vijaykumar is received in the station master's room where an old man in uniform repeats the warning. He recounts a grim story about his late son, who died on a train after placing a bet and now roams as a village ghost. The eerie tale unsettles Vijaykumar and deepens the sense of danger surrounding Ponvayal.

A second station master confirms that the old master is dead and that his ghost has haunted the area since his suicide in that room. Vijaykumar’s fear grows as the uncanny atmosphere of the village tightens its grip.

Vijaykumar travels to Ponvayal in a bullock cart, and a woman in a white saree crosses their path singing a song before vanishing when he tries to follow. The encounter sharpens the village’s supernatural aura and heightens his unease. He continues toward the village despite the chill in the air.

On the way back, the bullock cart driver is found dead, apparently from shock, leaving Vijaykumar stunned and fearful. The grim sight amplifies the danger surrounding Ponvayal and foreshadows the trials to come.

News arrives that Anandh, Vijaykumar’s fellow CBI officer and his brother, has died. Believing there is more behind the death, Anandh resolves to travel to Ponvayal and uncover the truth behind the mystery. He prepares for a difficult, peril-filled investigation.

Anandh arrives to find the village hostile and unwelcoming, with goons attempting to scare him off. A restaurant refuses service and water, leaving him hungry and desperate. Prabha, daughter of Singaram, eventually offers him food and a glimmer of trust begins to form.

That night, Anandh seeks help from Prabha to set up a tent and stabilize his position in the village. He also gains a wary ally in Babu, one of the gang’s henchmen, who indirectly aids him and hints at the gang’s deeper criminal activities.

Seizing the moment, Anandh appears in Ponvayal as Dhayal, an international gangster, announcing that he has come to find Anandh to avenge his arrest. The goons doubt his claim, but Dhayal remains determined and demands proof that Anandh is truly dead.

To everyone’s astonishment, Dhayal stages a showdown in which the two identities—Dhayal and Anandh—are presented as separate people and a dramatic ‘death’ occurs. It’s later revealed that the man who acted as Anandh was actually a fellow officer helping Dhayal.

Dhayal marries Prabha, a twist that initially unsettles her but later deepens Thalaivi’s interest in him. Thalaivi, the gang leader, is impressed by Dhayal’s audacity and begins to woo him, complicating the loyalties within the group.

Anandh informs the police about the gang’s illegal activities and coordinates a plan for intervention. With police support, the gang is finally arrested, and the village sees justice served after a tense game of deception and courage.
