What Happens in Fatal Intuition: Full Plot Summary

The whole story of Fatal Intuition (2015) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

Jang-woo, Joo Won, and his sister Eun-ji, Ryu Hye-young, are orphans living in a quiet seaside town, leaning on each other as they chase a brighter future after high school. When Eun-ji disappears, her bruised body is found three days later, dumped in a large bucket of water at their washhouse. With no witnesses and little evidence to go on, Jang-woo turns to faith and ritual, hoping to lay Eun-ji’s spirit to rest. During the rite, he notices a suspicious man and reads it as a sign from Eun-ji from the afterlife, which pushes him to追者 the killer on his own terms.

Si-eun, Lee You-young, has long been ostracized in town for a supposed psychic gift that lets her foresee death. She had foreseen Eun-ji’s death but kept silent, and the weight of that guilt drives her to approach Jang-woo to share the clues from her visions. The images are fragmented and do not reveal the killer’s face, yet they hint at patterns across several other murders. The duo begins pursuing these clues, hoping to connect them into a clearer picture of the threat looming over their community.

As Si-eun’s visions sharpen, she foresees the next target, and Jang-woo heads to the predicted site to confront the killer. There, he encounters Pharmacist Min, Yoo Hai-jin, known throughout the town as its kindest figure. Jang-woo becomes convinced Min is the serial killer, but the police refuse to investigate him because of his spotless reputation. Driven by his sister’s memory, Jang-woo resolves to take matters into his own hands, while Si-eun receives another vision of the upcoming murder, underscoring the danger that closes in.

Fatal Intuition Plot Explained: Your Questions Answered

The questions people ask most about Fatal Intuition (2015): what happens in the confusing scenes, why the characters do what they do, the twists, hidden details and what the ending means. Each answer contains spoilers.

Q1

Why does Jang-woo turn to a shaman after finding his sister's body?

Jang-woo turns to shamanism because the police have no leads and he desperately needs guidance. During the ritual, he notices a suspicious man and interprets it as a sign from Eun-ji's spirit reaching out from the afterlife, which gives him a direction to pursue the killer on his own terms.

Foreshadowing: Earlier scenes show Jang-woo's frustration with the lack of evidence, establishing his desperation for any form of answers.

  • shaman ritual
  • spirit
  • afterlife
  • evidence
  • investigation
Q2

Why did Si-eun keep quiet about seeing Eun-ji's death in advance?

Si-eun was ostracized in town for her psychic gift that lets her foresee death, making her a social outcast. She had a premonition of Eun-ji's death but kept silent, and the resulting guilt drives her to approach Jang-woo and share her visions as a way to make amends for her silence.

Foreshadowing: The movie establishes early that Si-eun's psychic abilities have isolated her from the community.

  • psychic
  • premonition
  • guilt
  • silence
  • vision
Q3

How does Si-eun's psychic ability work in the movie?

Si-eun possesses a psychic gift that allows her to foresee deaths, but her visions are fragmented and don't reveal the killer's face. The images provide clues and recurring motifs across multiple murders rather than clear identification, requiring Jang-woo to interpret and piece together the information.

Foreshadowing: Her visions show patterns rather than specifics, which is why she couldn't prevent Eun-ji's death despite seeing it coming.

  • psychic
  • visions
  • fragments
  • murder patterns
  • premonition
Q4

Why does Jang-woo believe Pharmacist Min is the killer?

Guided by Si-eun's vision of the next murder location, Jang-woo goes to confront the killer and encounters Pharmacist Min at the predicted site. Despite Min being known as the town's kindest and most respected figure, Jang-woo becomes convinced he is the serial killer based on this encounter and the clues from Si-eun's visions.

Foreshadowing: Si-eun's foreshadowing visions guide them to specific locations, making Min's presence at the predicted murder scene highly suspicious.

  • pharmacist min
  • suspicion
  • serial killer
  • vision
  • confrontation
Q5

Why do the police refuse to investigate Pharmacist Min?

The police refuse to investigate Min because he has a spotless reputation in the community and is known as the town's kindest figure. Without evidence or a witness, they have no grounds to question a respected citizen, leaving Jang-woo frustrated and determined to take matters into his own hands.

Foreshadowing: Min's established reputation as a pillar of the community makes police dismissal of Jang-woo's accusations believable.

  • police
  • investigation
  • reputation
  • evidence
  • pharmacist min
Q6

What is the connection between the other murders and Eun-ji's death?

As Jang-woo and Si-eun investigate, they discover that Eun-ji's murder is not an isolated incident. Si-eun's fragmented visions reveal patterns across several other murders in the town, suggesting the same serial killer is responsible for multiple deaths and that Eun-ji was one of several victims.

Foreshadowing: Si-eun's visions show recurring motifs that tie multiple deaths together, revealing a larger pattern of murders.

  • serial killer
  • murder pattern
  • multiple murders
  • connected cases
Q7

Why does Jang-woo decide to confront the killer personally?

After the police refuse to investigate Pharmacist Min due to his good reputation, Jang-woo's resolve hardens. Driven by his sister's memory and the need for answers, he resolves to take matters into his own hands rather than wait for the law to act, especially as Si-eun's visions warn of another imminent murder.

Foreshadowing: The police dismissal directly follows Min's confrontation, pushing Jang-woo toward vigilante action.

  • revenge
  • vigilante
  • justice
  • personal confrontation
  • police refusal
Q8

What does Si-eun's renewed vision reveal about the threat?

Si-eun receives another vision of the upcoming murder, sharpening the danger and time pressure. This renewed warning underscores that the killer is still active and about to strike again, prompting the duo to double-check their clues and prepare for the final confrontation.

Foreshadowing: The renewed vision comes after Jang-woo's confrontation with Min, indicating the killer hasn't been stopped.

  • next murder

  • danger
  • vision
