Narasimha Murthy is a multi-talented individual who works as a waiter at a star hotel, with the Dolphin Hotel in Visakhapatnam serving as the backdrop to his everyday life. Despite his many skills, he cannot pass his B.A. exams, a setback that shapes his uncertain path. Yet he moves through this limitation with warmth and resilience, always ready to lend a hand or a smile to those around him.

He befriends Sujatha, a college lecturer who runs a household in a home owned by councilor Ankela Adiseshayya. When Adiseshayya and his elder son Mohan visit Sujatha’s home with a marriage proposal, she stands firm against his extravagant dowry demands. Her principled stand creates a rift with her parents, who worry about social repercussions, and Adiseshayya retaliates by dismissing Sujatha from her job.

Murthy offers emotional support during this turbulent time, but their close bond is misread as romance, forcing Sujatha to leave her home. The situation escalates at a felicitation ceremony where Murthy publicly humiliates Adiseshayya. Enraged, Adiseshayya sends goons to attack Murthy and has him fired from his job, pushing both characters to seek new paths.

The two move to Hyderabad, turning to Rao, an acquaintance Murthy met while working at the hotel, who holds a senior position at Allwyn and offers Sujatha a job. Meanwhile, back home, Sujatha’s younger sister Lakshmi falls in love with Murali, Adiseshayya’s younger son. Murali pressures his father to approve the alliance by threatening suicide, and Adiseshayya, unable to secure a large dowry, reluctantly yields. After their marriage, Lakshmi moves in with Sujatha, and with Murali’s support, she files a lawsuit against Adiseshayya to claim her husband’s custody, determined to teach her father-in-law a lesson.

The narrative builds toward a tense confrontation in Hyderabad, just before Sujatha’s arranged marriage to Rao. Adiseshayya, his family, and Sujatha’s parents arrive to intervene, but the clash ultimately leads to a humbling of Adiseshayya. Sujatha chooses to marry Murthy, honoring her own wishes, and the film closes with a final twist: Adiseshayya returns home to discover that his elder son Mohan has married Murthy’s widowed cousin, adding an unexpected citation to the family’s evolving story.
