Starve Acre

In the end, Starve Acre reveals that the tragic death of Owen was not entirely accidental or straightforward. Juliette deliberately waited for Owen to have his fatal asthma attack before deciding to take him to the hospital, effectively allowing his death to serve as a sacrifice to the ancient forces controlling their land. Throughout the film, it becomes clear that the land and its myths, rooted in pagan folklore, demand specific offerings—particularly a loved son—to awaken the power of the oak tree and the spirit Jack Grey, who is revealed to be the mythical hare figure.
