Spring Fever

Picking up the day after the events of the first film, Paul wakes up in a creek surrounded by bloody water. As he realizes he is infected by a mysterious flesh-dissolving virus, he starts to stumble through the forest in agony, covered in sores and boils.

While attempting to reach the highway for help, Paul is hit by a bus full of high school students. The impact is horrific, leaving him dismembered and unrecognizable, marking a gruesome beginning to the outbreak.

Deputy Winston arrives at the scene of the accident, convinced the bus driver hit a moose. He soon discovers a foot belonging to Paul hanging from a tree, and in shock, he drives away from the gruesome scene.

An animation sequence reveals how the creek where Paul was infected is linked to a bottled water company. This contaminated water has been distributed to high school students, setting the stage for the impending disaster.

At the high school, the lunch lady unknowingly serves the contaminated water to the students. This action unwittingly begins to spread the infection among the student body.

John, a senior at the high school, debates whether to attend prom with his crush Cassie or watch a horror film with friends. Eventually, motivated by a promise from his friend Alex, he asks Cassie to prom, but she turns him down.

While at a diner, Winston witnesses a worker from the bottled-water company convulsing and dying from the infection. This horrifying moment solidifies Winston's understanding of the threat posed by the contaminated water.

At the prom, students begin to succumb to the infection, with one popular student, Rick, abandoning his girlfriend for a bet with his friends. After becoming intimate with Fredricka, who had prepared punch with the contaminated water, their night takes a deadly turn.

The situation escalates when CCD soldiers arrive to quarantine the school. They lock down the main exits and begin to kill anyone suspected to be infected, worsening the panic within the school.

As the lockdown intensifies, John, Cassie, and Alex try to escape. However, Alex, realizing he is infected, isolates himself in the library where he discovers the disease is deadly and incurable before he dies in front of them.

In a desperate attempt to stop the infection from spreading, Cassie cuts off John's infected hand with a buzz saw, using an acetylene torch to cauterize the wound. Their gruesome act is motivated by fear and desperation.

As the CCD soldiers aggressively search for survivors, John sacrifices himself to allow Cassie to escape. In a chaotic final chase, he is captured while Cassie manages to flee through the woods.

After the events at the school, Liz, the stripper, unknowingly infects a customer, which triggers a chain reaction of infections at his workplace. The small outbreak now escalates into a global pandemic, demonstrating the far-reaching consequences of the initial incidents.

In the end, John's friends, who are thankfully uninfected, joke about how prom turned out to be a disaster. This final moment offers a stark contrast to the grim reality unfolding outside as the infection spreads further.
