The film follows Krishna, a young photographer, and his girlfriend Sona after a night out on a deserted stretch of East Coast Road near Chennai, when they accidentally hit a young woman with their car and choose to drive away from the scene. Back home, Krishna notices a strange shadow that appears in the pictures he takes, and he begins to experience persistent shoulder and neck pains. At first, he chalks it up to a bad frame, but soon the shadow seems to carry a darker, more sinister presence—accompanied by extremely unsettling dreams that he cannot shake.

Driven to understand what’s happening, the couple starts investigating the phenomenon surrounding the ghostly image in the photographs. Their inquiry leads them to a revelation about Krishna’s past that may hold the key to identifying their spectral nemesis. As Sona begins to photograph campus life for her college assignments—the library, the grounds, and the students—she discovers that the young woman in Krishna’s pictures is Nandhini, a shy girl who was killed in the road accident. The discovery deepens the tension between them, especially as Krishna’s circle of friends have started dying, with several committing suicide by jumping from buildings.

A flashback illuminates the couple’s history: Krishna had once dated Nandhini and had ended the relationship, a breakup that left her devastated and self-harming. The haunting intensifies as we learn that Nandhini’s memory lingers in the present, and Krishna’s life becomes entangled with her as Sona and Krishna try to uncover the truth behind the haunting. Their investigation takes them to Nandhini’s mother, where they learn of a coffin near a shed containing Nandhini’s body, and that her mother could not bear to cremate her.

As the mystery unfolds, Sona uncovers a troubling secret: Krishna’s friends had raped Nandhini, and Krishna had captured the assault on film. This revelation drives a rift between the couple, with Sona ultimately deciding to leave him. Yet the haunting does not fade. Krishna continues to take photographs around the apartment, hoping to glimpse Nandhini, and when he discards the camera, the Polaroid seems to print by itself. The haunting becomes physical—the neck pains Krishna experienced are explained as Nandhini sitting on his shoulders, a weight that drives him to be thrown off a fire escape.

The tension peaks as Sona returns to help, but the end lingers on a chilling image: when she enters the apartment, the door swings, and the reflection reveals Nandhini still sitting on Krishna’s shoulders. The story closes with an eerie reminder that the past’s wrongs refuse to stay buried, and the supernatural forces linked to Nandhini continue to shadow Krishna and Sona.
