During a DEA SOT raid on a cartel stronghold, Smoke is killed as the team steals $10 million from a cash stockpile. They hide the money in the sewer beneath the building and blow up the rest, depriving the cartel of the remaining $190 million. The missing money triggers an internal investigation and the team is suspended by Floyd Demel.

With six months passing and no confessions or evidence implicating them, the team is reinstated and allowed back on duty. The DEA probes the discrepancy between the amount reported by the team and the higher amount the cartel had stashed, while rumors of FBI involvement swirl. The team returns to active duty.

Pyro wakes from a drunken stupor to find his motorhome towed onto a railroad crossing. A train rams the vehicle, killing him before he can escape. The homicide investigation soon centers on the DEA team.

Brentwood and Breacher investigate Neck's disappearance and discover him nailed to the ceiling and disemboweled. The brutal method matches cartel killings and signals the cartel is targeting the team over the stolen money. Breacher realizes the killings are a coordinated hunt.

Breacher and the others locate Tripod, who had left the DEA after being suspended. A shootout ensues in which Tripod kills an assailant who Breacher identifies as a cartel enforcer, and Tripod dies. This marks another casualty tied to the money caper.

Monster visits Brentwood and reveals Breacher's family was kidnapped by the cartel, who filmed their murders and sent the tape along with Breacher's family severed body parts. Breacher spent months searching for them before his teammates convinced him to move on.

Jackson traces the dead enforcer's cellphone to a cartel safe house; Breacher's team raids it but the enforcers have already vanished. The enforcers are later found dead at the bottom of a river near Tripod's house, showing they were killed before Pyro and Neck.

Breacher reunites the team to share what happened, and Grinder confesses that they stole the money. Lizzy reveals she has been having an affair with Sugar, raising tension and distrust within the group.

Lizzy uses a sniper rifle to kill Grinder at a local restaurant, confirming that Lizzy and Sugar orchestrated the murders of their teammates. The revelation sets off a violent unraveling as loyalties fracture.

As Lizzy plans to flee the country with Sugar, Monster destroys her passport and Lizzy then attacks him with a knife, killing him.

Breacher and Brentwood go to Lizzy's house and discover Monster's body stuffed in a refrigerator, confirming Lizzy's earlier actions.

Lizzy lures Breacher to a parking garage for a meeting; Breacher and Brentwood go there as backup. Lizzy and Sugar ambush Breacher; a lengthy chase through the garage ensues.

Lizzy and Sugar crash their car after the pursuit, with Sugar being decapitated when the vehicle hits a tow truck.

Breacher confronts Lizzy, acknowledges taking the money, and shoots her as police arrive; he then disappears into the night, leaving Brentwood frustrated.

Weeks later, Breacher uses the stolen money to bribe a corrupt police official to identify Brujo, the man who murdered his family. He tracks Brujo to a Mexican bar and kills him and his loyalists. Wounded, Breacher sits at a table, takes a shot of whiskey and lights a cigar, smiling as he awaits his fate.
