During a DEA SOT raid on a cartel stronghold, Smoke is killed as the team steals $10 million from a cash stockpile. They hide the money in the sewer beneath the building and blow up the rest, depriving the cartel of the remaining $190 million. The missing money triggers an internal investigation and the team is suspended by Floyd Demel.

Suspension and reinstatement

With six months passing and no confessions or evidence implicating them, the team is reinstated and allowed back on duty. The DEA probes the discrepancy between the amount reported by the team and the higher amount the cartel had stashed, while rumors of FBI involvement swirl. The team returns to active duty.

Pyro wakes from a drunken stupor to find his motorhome towed onto a railroad crossing. A train rams the vehicle, killing him before he can escape. The homicide investigation soon centers on the DEA team.
