What Happens in Killers Anonymous: Full Plot Summary

The whole story of Killers Anonymous (2019) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

A group of individuals bound by a chilling addiction—the urge to kill—holds regular meetings for mutual support and understanding. Their hidden community plunges into chaos when an assassination attempt is made on Senator Kyle, portrayed by Sam Hazeldine, in the heart of the city.

Guiding this group is The Man, played by Gary Oldman. One day, he travels to London and crosses paths with Jade, brought to life by Jessica Alba. Jade is slated to carry out the hit on the senator while he's in London. However, things take a dramatic turn when an old acquaintance, now a bouncer at a bar, recognizes her and forces her to leave, prompting The Man to demand her immediate departure from London.

The very same day, Jade encounters a seemingly random female prostitute, who turns out to be an assassin. In a tragic twist, the assassin shoots and seriously injures Jade.

As the group's clandestine meetings progress, they start to suspect that powerful forces are manipulating their gatherings. This fresh suspicion arises when Alice, played by Rhyon Nicole Brown, joins the circle and meets Joanna, portrayed by MyAnna Buring. Among the noteworthy members are Leandro (Michael Socha), Ben (Elliot James Langridge), and Calvin (Tim McInnerny). As tensions mount during discussions about the senator, Alice becomes increasingly uncomfortable and attempts to exit the meeting, only to be stopped by Krystal, played by Elizabeth Morris, who also had a hand in Jade's earlier attack. Finally, Markus, portrayed by Tommy Flanagan, enters, marking his presence among this eclectic group.

Known as Killers Anonymous (KA), this self-help organization is meant for those who once lived a life of murder and wish to leave it behind. During an intense session, Joanna hears strange noises from the ducts, hinting at a hidden observer, who is later revealed to be Molly, a girl played by Isabelle Allen.

As the evening unfolds, the group's dark confessions escalate—Ben shares a chilling story of how he took his best friend’s life during a hunting trip. Calvin recounts a harrowing car accident that claimed his wife’s life and led him to derive pleasure from the suffering of others, admitting to malpractice as a doctor. Leandro shares a meticulously plotted tale of poisoning a Triad leader over several weeks to leave no trace.

Meanwhile, The Man observes the meeting from a safe distance, armed with listening devices. He receives a call from Violet, played by Suki Waterhouse, who is on a potential killing spree.

When the group reconvenes after a smoke break, chaos ensues as Senator Kyle barges in, only to be shot. In a fit of rage, he confronts Joanna, accusing her of deviating from their original plan to merely intimidate him. The senator reveals suspicions that Joanna might be entangled with the CIA, which allegedly uses KA as a front for its assassination operations.

Alice, who claims to have received an untraceable message leading to the meeting, becomes a focal point of Joanna's suspicions. Joanna, adamant about Alice's connection to the botched hit, confronts her, while Molly inadvertently reveals her eavesdropping with a cough, which leads to an intense decision about her fate.

In a shocking turn of events, Joanna declares Alice the new leader of the group, sharing that she had made the initial attempt on the senator's life after Jade's failure. She reveals that Alice and Molly share a surname, Romanoff, indicating a supposed Russian affiliation. However, as the story unfolds, it becomes apparent that the sisters' connections may be as fabricated as the narratives spun within the walls of KA. As alliances shift, Alice and Molly leave with Krystal, eliminating the rest of the group, leaving behind a web of deceit where loyalty is as fleeting as life itself.

Killers Anonymous Plot Explained: Your Questions Answered

The questions people ask most about Killers Anonymous (2019): what happens in the confusing scenes, why the characters do what they do, the twists, hidden details and what the ending means. Each answer contains spoilers.

Q1

Why does The Man demand Jade leave London after she's recognized at the bar?

The Man orders Jade to leave immediately because her cover has been blown. The bouncer who recognized her is an old acquaintance, which means Jade's identity is compromised and she can no longer safely operate in London. This jeopardizes the assassination plot on Senator Kyle.

Foreshadowing: Earlier, the group was already nervous about outside threats and leaks within their meetings.

Q2

Who attacks Jade in London and why?

Jade is shot by a female assassin posing as a prostitute. The attack was orchestrated by members within Killers Anonymous itself, specifically Krystal, who had a hand in planning Jade's attack. This was likely a setup to remove Jade from the operation after her previous failure.

Foreshadowing: Tensions were already high about the botched assassination attempt on Senator Kyle.

Q3

Why does Senator Kyle confront the Killers Anonymous group?

Senator Kyle crashes the KA meeting because he's furious about the assassination attempt. He accuses Joanna of deviating from their original plan, which was supposed to be mere intimidation, not an actual hit. He also suspects Joanna is working with the CIA, which he claims uses KA as a front for assassination operations.

Foreshadowing: Earlier discussions about the senator triggered Alice's discomfort and attempts to leave the meeting.

Q4

Why does Joanna make Alice the new leader of Killers Anonymous?

Joanna reveals that Alice was actually the one who carried out the assassination attempt on Senator Kyle after Jade failed. By designating Alice as the new leader, Joanna passes on the responsibility and visibility of the group to someone she claims has proven herself capable of the mission.

Foreshadowing: Alice's discomfort during discussions about the senator and her supposed "untraceable message" leading to the meeting raised Joanna's suspicions earlier.

  • alice
  • joanna

Q5

What is the relationship between Alice and Molly?

Alice and Molly are revealed to be sisters who share the surname Romanoff, suggesting Russian connections. However, as the story unfolds, it's suggested their family connections may be fabricated, just another layer of the deception that permeates Killers Anonymous.

Q6

Why do Alice, Molly, and Krystal kill the rest of the group?

In the film's climax, Alice, Molly, and Krystal eliminate all other members of Killers Anonymous. This represents a complete betrayal of the group's supposed support-system purpose, showing that the lethal consensus reached was to silence everyone, likely to prevent the truth about the assassination plot and CIA connections from spreading.

Foreshadowing: The group's meetings were filled with confessions that could incriminate every member present.

Q7

What is the CIA's involvement with Killers Anonymous?

Senator Kyle accuses Joanna of working with the CIA, claiming the agency uses Killers Anonymous as a front for its own assassination operations. The group was allegedly being manipulated from outside, with powerful forces using KA members as disposable assets for political hits.

Foreshadowing: The group noticed suspicious manipulations happening around their meetings even before the senator's arrival.

Q8

Why does Joanna suspect Alice from the beginning?

Joanna becomes suspicious of Alice because Alice claims to have received an untraceable message leading her to the meeting, a highly unusual occurrence in such a secretive group. Joanna believes no one should be able to find KA without inside help, leading her to conclude Alice was connected to the botched assassination attempt.

Foreshadowing: Alice's nervous attempts to leave the meeting during discussions about the senator further fueled Joanna's suspicion.

Q9

Who is the person eavesdropping on the Killers Anonymous meetings?

Molly is revealed to be the hidden observer listening from the air ducts during KA meetings. Her presence is discovered when she coughs, inadvertently revealing her location to the group. She turns out to be Alice's sister, making her involvement in the group's affairs even more suspicious.

Foreshadowing: Strange noises were heard from the ducts during one of the intense confession sessions.

However, she was recognized by an old acquaintance working as a bouncer at a bar, forcing The Man to extract her from the city.
