Pariyerum Perumal

The film opens with the murder of Pariyan's beloved dog Karuppi by caste-hating assailants, signaling the deep reach of caste oppression. The killing establishes the social fault lines that drive the story. Karuppi's death motivates Pariyan to face the hostile world around him.

Pariyan, a youth from Puliyankulam, moves to Tirunelveli to study law at Government Law College. He dreams of becoming a lawyer like B. R. Ambedkar and uses education as a path to justice. The move marks the start of his public life and fight against oppression.

Jothi Mahalakshmi, Jo, a naive girl from Ambasamudram, begins teaching Pariyan English. Her kindness and honesty draw him in, and he grows to trust her. She gradually falls for his sincerity.

Sankaralingam, Jo's cousin, resents Pariyan's friendship and sees him as a threat to caste norms. He waits for a chance to teach Pariyan a lesson and assert his perceived superiority.

At Jo's family wedding, Pariyan is attacked by Sankaralingam and his friends. They beat him and even urinate on him, while Jo remains unaware of the danger looming over him.

The next day Jo berates Pariyan for not attending her sister's wedding, misreading his absence. Pariyan is left hurt and frustrated, realizing the social barriers that obstruct their bond.

Pariyan drinks in class and is summoned to the principal's room to justify himself. A ruse is used to force him to produce a 'father' who will vouch for him, and a man is hired to play that role.

Pariyan's real father, a folk dancer in drag, is dragged out and humiliated by Sankaralingam and his gang. Pariyan witnesses the assault, and his father runs out of the college half-naked, followed by the attackers. Pariyan rushes after them and takes his father to a hospital.

The principal recognizes Pariyan's innocence and urges him to stay brave and continue fighting for what is right. This moment affirms Pariyan's resolve despite ongoing oppression.

As Jo's father realizes Jo loves Pariyan, he hires Thatha Maistry to eliminate the threat to caste honor. Maistry vows to act as a divine enforcer and even promises he will kill himself if he fails.

Maistry and Pariyan encounter each other again; Maistry offers to fix the problem by talking rather than killing. Pariyan, by his father's hospital bedside, contemplates revenge but is urged toward restraint.

Jo visits Pariyan in the hospital and expresses her love, but asks him to remain the same friend he has always been. Pariyan promises to stay true to his identity and to not let anger drive him.

Maistry ties Pariyan to a railway track in a bid to replicate Karuppi's murder, but Pariyan escapes. A brutal confrontation ensues between Pariyan, Maistry, and Sankaralingam.

Having failed to kill his target, Maistry commits suicide on the railway track. The act underscores the tragic costs of the caste violence surrounding Pariyan.

Jo brings her father to meet Pariyan; he apologizes for his behavior and recognizes Pariyan's impact. Pariyan answers with a calm resolve, insisting that real change requires dignity and restraint.
