Bewafaa (2005) – Full Plot Summary & Ending Explained

Read the complete plot breakdown of Bewafaa (2005), including all key story events, major twists, and the ending explained in detail. Discover what really happened—and what it all means.

Anjali is the younger daughter of a Canadian-born mother and Indian father, growing up in Quebec with a warm home life and a close bond to her elder sister Aarti. Anjali’s heart finds a spark in a budding musician named Raja, and their friendship gradually blossoms into a quiet, sincere love. Because Raja’s career path is unsettled, Anjali keeps the romance secret from her parents, trusting that Aarti will help them see the truth of their feelings.

Aarti is married to Aditya, and the couple is expecting twins. Complications arise during the pregnancy, and Aarti dies while giving birth to twin girls. While in mourning and still unaware of Anjali and Raja’s relationship, Anjali’s parents urge her to marry Aditya, believing the pragmatic path is to join the family and help raise the nieces.

Aditya, a successful but solitary business tycoon, hardly finds time for his sister-in-law-turned-wife or for the two young girls. Anjali steps into the roles of mother and wife, but the marriage carries no real compatibility—only compromises. She stays for the sake of the nieces she now loves as her own, balancing a quiet sense of duty with the ache of unfulfilled romance. Seeking guidance, Aditya turns to his friends the flamboyant couple Dil Arora and Pallavi Arora.

Raja, now a famous fusion singer, returns into Anjali’s life, stirring old feelings and testing her sense of duty. She spends time with him but cannot fully abandon the life she has built as a wife and mother. Raja, seeking closure, reconsiders his touring plans and hopes for a future with her, but Anjali cannot forget her husband and children.

Back home, Aditya senses the changes and decides to approach the truth with the support of his friends. The revelations set the stage for a crucial choice: Anjali must decide between the life she has built and the love she once shared with Raja. In the end, she chooses Aditya, finding that the love for the man who stood by her and the family they built together is stronger than nostalgia. Raja accepts the outcome and heads out on a world tour, his music carrying him across continents.
