Mantra moves to Hyderabad after securing a software company job. Having lost her parents years ago, she has spent most of her life in hostels. At the station, a taxi driver—an assistant sent by her employer—approaches her and hints she should take a paying guest instead of hunting for a hostel.

The taxi driver suggests she stay as a paying guest at Ramarao and his wife’s home, hoping to simplify her lodging. She considers hostel options but is drawn by the couple’s warmth and the convenience of their place. She agrees and moves in, hoping for a safer routine.

Mantra starts her new job and settles into a routine. The elderly couple are friendly and welcoming, and she slowly feels at home. Yet a subtle unease begins to creep in as she notices oddities around the house.

The ghostly presence kills one member purely from shock upon seeing something that turns out to be Mantra’s photograph. The group realizes the haunting is personally connected to her. Tension rises as the danger tightens its grip.

A letter explains that Mantra is Ramarao and his wife’s long-lost daughter, and that she has a twin sister named Anjali. Anjali died in infancy and the couple raised Mantra as their own. The revelation reframes the haunting as a family tragedy rather than a random haunting.

The backstory reveals that Ramarao’s younger brother orchestrated their murders to silence the discovery of the other daughter. Ramarao and his wife were killed in the tragedy, leaving Mantra to be raised by friends. The motive explains the ancestral anger that haunts the home.
