Raj “Raju” Verma, Anil Kapoor a diligent and principled mechanic, lives with his disabled and paralyzed mother, Farida Jalal Gayatri Verma. Before a job interview, he saves textile mill owner Laxminarayan Jetley and earns a chance to work in a factory run by his ambitious daughter, Sheetal Jetley Sridevi. Her competitive attitude and frequent insults toward staff quickly breed enemies, including her loyal yet ruthless henchman Tilak Bhandari Shakti Kapoor.
As a mechanic, Raju challenges Sheetal on how workers should be treated, and she roars with anger when he becomes a union leader. Raju soon falls for the mill’s modest worker Kaajal Raveena Tandon. A rival owner, Suryadev Prem Chopra, schemes to take Sheetal down, but Raju’s charisma and grounded approach help her see ways to handle rivals and mobilize her workforce.
Their clash escalates when Sheetal slaps Raju in anger, and he quietly retaliates by standing up to her with equal force. Yet Sheetal cannot fire him without admitting a fault, which fuels a vengeful turn. She persuades Gayatri to consent to a match between Raju and Sheetal, and, reluctantly, on Gayatri’s order, Raju sacrifices his love for Kaajal and marries Sheetal. He maintains his own home and works as a mechanic, but later moves into Sheetal’s opulent residence at Gayatri’s request, and, over time, begins to fall in love with Sheetal.
Kajal becomes caretaker for Gayatri, and her care improves Gayatri’s health. Tensions flare when Sheetal sees Raju kissing Kajal on the forehead and moves to marginalize Kajal. Labour unrest brews into a strike, while a competing mill owner pursues personal gain by hiring goons to set fires. Raju is wrongly arrested, and Gayatri visits Sheetal’s house to clear the air. During the confrontation, Sheetal feels humiliated and collapses, but Raju saves her and delivers a decisive, hard slap that marks a turning point in their dynamic.
Guilty yet drawn to each other, Sheetal discovers new feelings for Raju, who also begins to see her in a different light. She is kidnapped by Suryadev, and Raju mounts a daring rescue. In the aftermath, Sheetal begins to reform, Kajal rises to a leadership role at Sheetal’s company, and Sheetal steps away from her previous duties, signaling a new balance between duty, ambition, and affection. The story threads together ambition, love, sacrifice, and redemption against the backdrop of a competitive textile industry and the people who fight to shape its future.
