Sapna is the only daughter of a wealthy underworld Don, Pratap Dholakia. She lives in terror of her father and brother Raman Dholakia, whose violence and gang connections keep Sapna confined at home for years, with only her sister-in-law, Nisha Dholakia, for company and comfort. Highly sheltered, naive, and lonely, Sapna yearns to break free and find a sliver of independence amid the danger that surrounds her world.
One night, Sapna attends her childhood friend’s wedding without Pratap’s permission, and on the drive home she is attacked by his rival gang. Rohit Malhotra, a local college student, witnesses the assault and steps in to protect her. They immediately feel a deep connection, but before they can introduce themselves properly, Sapna is rescued by Pratap’s men. Enraged, Pratap forbids Sapna from ever leaving the house again.
The next morning, Rohit learns Sapna’s name from a newspaper article about the incident. He and his friends enter her home disguised as a musical band performing for Navaratri celebrations. Across the nine nights of Navaratri, sparks fly between Rohit and Sapna, and they begin meeting in secret. Although Raman grows suspicious, Rohit charms Pratap and wins his trust when Sapna explains that Rohit was the man who saved her. Rohit even sneaks Sapna out for excursions and brings her home to meet his parents, who receive her with warmth. Nisha discovers their relationship and warns Sapna about Pratap’s cruelty and what he and Raman would do if they found out.
Pratap, hoping Sapna would be safe abroad, arranges for her to marry the son of a wealthy friend in London. He publicly announces their engagement on the last night of Navaratri, shocking both Sapna and Rohit.
Devastated, Sapna ends her relationship with Rohit to protect him from her father and brother. Nisha secretly visits Rohit at his college to return jewelry he had given Sapna, explaining that Sapna loves him so much she is willing to enter a loveless marriage to keep him safe. Undeterred, on the night of Sapna’s engagement party, Rohit whiskst her away to his hostel, reasoning that it would be the last place Pratap would search for her. With the help of his friends, Sapna is disguised as a male student and settles in, tasting freedom for the first time. Pratap assumes Sapna has been abducted by his rival, Kania Pathan, and orders Raman to search for her, violently attacking Pathan’s men. When this proves futile, Pratap has Pathan’s telephone bill checked and spots frequent calls to an unfamiliar number, quickly identifying Rohit.
Raman and his men arrive at Rohit’s hostel but are met with hundreds of Rohit’s peers carrying sticks and bats, showing solidarity with Rohit and Sapna. Pratap appears and publicly berates Raman for coming to the hostel without his permission. He earnestly displays fatherly concern, declaring his approval of Rohit and Sapna’s relationship and convincing Sapna to return home to prepare for her wedding.
Dismayed, Sapna returns home and tells Nisha of her father’s acceptance. Nisha reveals that Pratap deceived Sapna to avoid creating a scene at the hostel and that her father’s pride is more valuable to him than her happiness. Sapna pleads with Pratap, who furiously informs her that she is to fly to London that very night. Under the guise of peace, Pratap summons Rohit to his factory, revealing his true intentions. When Rohit refuses to give up on Sapna, Pratap orders him killed. His men brutalize Rohit and toss him into a gully, assuming he is dead. Sapna overhears Pratap speaking of Rohit’s death and overdoses on pills. She leaves a suicide note in her room and, before leaving, tells Pratap that she wishes to be with her long-deceased mother. Nisha finds Sapna’s suicide note and throws it at Pratap, screaming at him for selfishly ending his own daughter’s life.
As Sapna is escorted to the airport, Rohit reappears, bloodied and enraged. With renewed strength, he fights off the guards just as Sapna starts coughing up blood, succumbing to her overdose. He carries her to a hospital, where she is stabilized. Pratap, moved and humbled, finally blesses the couple.

Sapna lives under the strict control of her father Pratap Dholakia, a wealthy underworld don, and her brother Raman. Both are involved in violent criminal activities, and Pratap keeps Sapna confined at home for her safety, or more accurately, to maintain control over her. She has little freedom and is isolated, with only her sister-in-law Nisha for company.
From the opening scenes, the oppressive atmosphere of Sapna's home establishes the dangerous world she desperately wants to escape.
After witnessing Sapna being attacked by a rival gang and saving her, Rohit learns her name from a newspaper the next day. He and his friends disguise themselves as a musical band performing for Navaratri celebrations and enter Sapna's home under this pretext. This allows them to meet secretly during the nine-night festival.
The Navaratri festival provides the perfect cover, during this time, musical performances and celebrations are expected, making the disguised band believable.
Pratap arranges for Sapna to marry the son of a wealthy friend in London as a way to remove her from the dangerous criminal world, and more importantly, to control her life completely. He announces this on the last night of Navaratri, shocking both Sapna and Rohit. This is not acceptance of their relationship; it's a calculated plan to trap Sapna abroad in an arranged marriage.
The announcement comes immediately after Pratap seemed to warm to Rohit, making it a shocking betrayal that reveals his true manipulative nature.
Sapna ends her relationship with Rohit to protect him from her father and brother. She knows that continuing their relationship could put Rohit in mortal danger from Pratap's criminal operations. She chooses to sacrifice her own happiness and accept a loveless marriage in London to ensure Rohit's safety.
Nisha had warned Sapna about Pratap's cruelty and what he would do if he discovered the relationship, making Sapna's decision feel inevitable.
When Raman and Pratap's men confront Rohit at his hostel, Pratap publicly berates Raman for coming without permission and declares his approval of Rohit and Sapna's relationship. However, this is a calculated deception, Pratap's pride and reputation matter more to him than Sapna's happiness. He wants to avoid a public scene and handles things privately instead.
The dramatic reversal at the hostel where Pratap seems supportive is undercut by Nisha's later warning that his acceptance is a lie to avoid scandal.
Pratap summons Rohit to his factory under the guise of peace, but his true intention is to force Rohit to give up on Sapna. When Rohit refuses, Pratap orders him killed. This confrontation reveals Pratap's true colors, he has no intention of allowing their relationship and will use any means necessary to stop it.
This violent confrontation follows directly from Pratap's deception at the hostel, showing his pattern of handling things privately when public image is at stake.
After being brutally beaten by Pratap's men and dumped in a gully, Rohit's friends find him and help him recover. Though left bloodied and presumed dead by Pratap's men, Rohit survives and returns, weakened but alive, to rescue Sapna as she is being taken to the airport.
The brutal beating and dumping in a gully appears to be the end of Rohit, but his survival sets up the dramatic climax.
Sapna overhears Pratap speaking about Rohit's death, the murder he ordered at the factory. Believing the man she loves is dead, Sapna spirals into despair and overdoses on pills, leaving a suicide note in her room. She tells Pratap she wishes to be with her deceased mother, expressing her complete loss of will to live.
The overdose directly follows from Sapna's desperate situation, her father's control, the forced marriage, and now the death of the only person who offered her freedom and love.
Pratap is moved to bless the couple after two pivotal events: Sapna's suicide attempt, which deeply shocks him as he realizes his control has destroyed his own daughter, and Rohit's dramatic return, bloodied but alive, fighting guards to reach Sapna. Witnessing their devotion and nearly losing his child permanently breaks through Pratap's pride.
The combination of Sapna's overdose and Rohit's return creates the perfect storm that transforms Pratap from a controlling villain to a humbled father.
Nisha, Sapna's sister-in-law, discovers Sapna's secret relationship with Rohit and warns her about Pratap's brutality. Nisha understands the danger better than anyone living in the household, she has witnessed Pratap's violence firsthand and knows what he and Raman would do if they discovered the romance. Her warning highlights the stakes of getting caught.
Nisha's warning establishes the real danger in the plot and makes Sapna's later decisions to protect Rohit feel motivated by genuine threat.
After Sapna escapes to Rohit's hostel during her engagement party, Pratap assumes she has been kidnapped by his rival Kania Pathan. When his search proves futile, Pratap has Pathan's telephone bill checked and discovers frequent calls to an unknown number. He quickly deduces this number belongs to Rohit, revealing how he tracks them down.
The telephone bill detail shows Pratap's intelligence and resourcefulness beyond just his violent tendencies.
