Rana Vikram Singh, Amrish Puri, presides over a vast farmhouse with his wife Laxmi Singh, [Sushma Seth], and two sons: Rajesh Singh, Feroz Khan, a disciplined police officer, and Amar Singh, Anil Kapoor, a carefree playboy who runs the family business and lives life to the fullest. The household is a tight, volatile mix of affection and ambition, where loyalty is tested by ambition, revenge, and the ever-present lure of wealth.
Rajesh’s beloved Seema, Sridevi, falls prey to a drug-driven trap masterminded by Teja Raza Murad and his son Raja Shakti Kapoor. They abduct Seema to exact revenge on Rajesh for his raids on their empire, and Seema dies from an overdose before Rajesh can reach her. The tragedy steels Rajesh’s resolve to wipe out the menace, and he strikes hard, destroying Teja’s drug lab—though Teja and Raja manage to slip away.
Raja targets Rai Sahab’s wealth by murdering Reshma Rai’s father to seize his estate. Raja had earlier duped Kulbhushan Kharbanda’s character, Kulbhushan Kharbanda (Mr. Rai), by beating him at the Darby, bribing the jockey to throw the race and cause Rai Sahab to lose Rs 15 Lakhs. The scheme deepens the feud: Raja wants Rai Sahab dead and Reshma under his control, using fear and money to tighten his grip on the family’s future.
Amar’s life grows even more tangled when he’s drawn into Rajesh’s world and is arrested alongside Raja at one of Raja’s drug clubs, wary of the law and of his own sister’s connections to Raja’s circle. Reshma, meanwhile, arrives at Rana’s house; although she is not fully approved by the family, she discovers she is connected through blood, and she begins to work on the farm to support herself. The revelation that Amar is Laxmi’s son adds another layer of complexity to the already fraught family dynamics.
As Amar flirts with Reshma on the farm, she conducts a calculated act of revenge by feeding beer to Amar’s horse Macho, triggering a savage misbehavior that exposes the fragility of Amar’s bravado. Their relationship evolves into a fragile veneer of affection when Amar and Reshma sleep in a barn, and Amar promises marriage, a claim that is soon contested when Vikram confronts him and he denies the affair. Raja, meantime, sows further discord by seducing Raja’s own sister into a liaison with Amar, underscoring how far the family’s loyalties have fractured. Amar eventually abandons Reshma, sparking a bitter family rift between Vikram (Rana Vikram Singh) and the others, while Laxmi and Rajesh defend Reshma’s dignity and intent.
Raja, bailed out by his lawyers, collaborates with Teja to bring Rajesh and his family down. He ingratiates himself with Amar after his release, hoping to leverage old rifts for his own gain. Reshma plays a dangerous game, flirting with the farm manager, Vikas [Dalip Tahil], to provoke jealousy in Amar. The plan backfires when Amar murders the farm manager and escapes from Rajesh’s reach by seeking shelter with Raja, who has begun to pretend friendship with him. Rajesh then arrests Vikram for aiding and abetting a criminal, further entangling the web of loyalties.
Amar finally confesses his love for Reshma and takes her to Raja’s house, where Raja and his sister await their heart’s desire. The balance tips when Teja kills Raja’s sister as she tries to intervene and save Amar, accelerating the catastrophe. Raja makes a last, jagged attempt to violate Reshma, but Rajesh arrives just in time to intervene; he shoots Teja and wounds Raja, who simultaneously kills Amar in a bid to protect Reshma. In the end, Reshma is accepted by the Rana family as the widow of their dead son, her future now entwined with a household that has learned too much about power, vengeance, and the price of loyalty.
