Maya, a tollbooth worker in Jakarta, is attacked on her night shift by a man wielding a golok who claims to be from Harjosari and calls her 'Rahayu.' She fights for her life and narrowly escapes as police arrive and shoot the attacker dead. The assault foreshadows the village's dark history that links her to Harjosari.

Maya shows Dini an old photograph given by her aunt, revealing she was raised in the city after her parents' mysterious deaths. The image identifies her as Rahayu, Donowongso and Shinta's daughter, standing in front of a large house. The photo deepens the mystery surrounding her past and her connection to Harjosari.

Maya and Dini travel to the remote Harjosari village posing as student researchers to locate the house tied to Maya's past. They hope to uncover an inheritance connection and the truth behind the family mystery. The journey introduces them to wary villagers and ominous rumors.

They reach the long-abandoned house and are met by cold, suspicious villagers. They witness daily funerals for children and notice that many headstones belong to newborns, signaling a deadly secret haunting the town. The atmosphere grows increasingly hostile as the investigation deepens.

Dini is lured away by villagers and murdered; they slit her throat and flay her, mistaking her for Rahayu. Maya witnesses the atrocity from a distance and is unable to intervene in time. The attack marks a brutal pattern of treatment toward outsiders connected to Maya's past.

That evening, Maya sees the village chief and dalang Saptadi at the birth of a skinless baby. He proceeds to drown the newborn, exposing the village's horrific rites and the severity of the curse. The act reveals how deeply the community is implicated in the skinless tragedy.

A sympathetic villager, Ratih, explains that 20 years ago Donowongso, a rich dalang, sacrificed three girls to heal his skinless daughter Rahayu. Since then, every baby in the village is born without skin. The revelation ties Maya's fate to a cursed lineage that extends across generations.

The ghost of one of the slain girls reveals that the curse can only be broken by burying the slain girls' skin, which Donowongso turned into wayang kulit puppets. The spirit also exposes Maya's true origins—that she was born of an affair between Shinta and Saptadi and that Misni cursed her to be skinless. The revelation spurs Maya to seek the buried skins as a path to salvation.

In a remembered massacre, Saptadi kills Donowongso, Shinta, and a group of wayang musicians during a public performance and frames Donowongso for the atrocity. The act cements a tangled web of deceit and vengeance that fuels the village's curse. The villagers remain haunted by the legacy of that night.

Misni, Saptadi's dukun mother, convinces the villagers that only by flaying Rahayu and turning her skin into puppets can the curse be undone. Rahayu is evacuated by her supposed aunt, who is actually Donowongso's servant, and renamed Maya to hide her identity. The plan sets the stage for a confrontation that could break the curse—if Maya survives.

Maya and Ratih bury the puppets made from the skins of the three slain girls, attempting to pacify their spirits. Misni arrives with the villagers and captures Maya, turning the village's fear into a fresh crisis. The confrontation exposes the tangled fates of Maya, Ratih, and Misni.

Misni moves to flay Maya, but a remorseful Saptadi slits his own throat to stop her. Misni then slits her own throat to join her son in death. The immediate danger subsides for the moment, but the village remains haunted by the past.

Ratih announces the birth of Harjosari's first healthy baby in 20 years, prompting the villagers to allow Maya to escape. A year later, however, Misni's ghost extracts a fetus from a violent miscarriage and devours it, suggesting the curse persists beyond the living. The ending blends relief with an ominous hint that the evil may still linger.
