Dead Calm

John Ingram and Rae experience a devastating loss when their young son dies in an automobile accident while Rae was driving. This tragedy leaves both of them emotionally distraught and seeking solace.

To cope with their grief, John and Rae decide to take a break on their yacht in the Pacific Ocean. They hope that being out at sea will help them heal and strengthen their relationship during this difficult time.

Their quiet getaway takes a turn when they encounter Hughie Warriner, a distressed man who claims to have lost his friends due to food poisoning on a nearby sinking boat. John is suspicious, but Rae is more trusting of Hughie.

Determined to uncover the truth, John decides to explore Hughie's sinking ship while Hughie rests on their yacht. He asks Rae to keep the shotgun ready, reflecting his concerns about Hughie's story.

Upon reaching the sinking vessel, John discovers that Hughie's story was a lie. He finds multiple bodies and realizes that Hughie was responsible for the murders, heightening the tension and urgency to warn Rae.

As John tries to warn Rae from a distance, Hughie awakens and overpowers Rae, taking control of the yacht. John races against time to return and save her, fully aware of the danger lurking in Hughie's presence.

While on the yacht with Hughie, Rae attempts to find a way to signal for John's help. She cleverly communicates with John via the radio while trying to keep Hughie occupied and unaware of her true intentions.

Rae devises a plan to seduce Hughie to gain his trust while trying to secretly load the shotgun. Despite her attempts to manipulate the situation, Hughie grows increasingly possessive, making her actions riskier.

After a series of strategic distractions, Rae finally retrieves the shotgun but is unable to use it immediately. Tension mounts as she prepares for a confrontation with Hughie, who is under the influence of a sedative.

As Rae locks herself in her bedroom and fires the spear gun at the door, she unintentionally injures her own dog in the process. The chaos escalates until she finally knocks Hughie out, but not without consequences.

Once Hughie is incapacitated, Rae manages to free John, who has set fire to his sinking ship to signal for help. Together, they devise a way to escape their shared trauma and the threat posed by Hughie.
