Moke and JD pull off a warehouse robbery, but only JD is captured and sent to prison. While incarcerated, JD befriends Officer Farful and strikes a deal that will tie the brothers together later. The encounter sets up the pursuit of emeralds and the uneasy alliance with law enforcement.

Moke is fired from his restaurant job for not disclosing his criminal past. His wife is pregnant, adding pressure and urgency to compensate for lost income. This setback pushes the brothers toward one last, riskier plan.

Farful beats JD at his place and threatens him for the emeralds, but JD doesn't reveal the whereabouts of the gems. The assault establishes Farful as an ever-present threat and underscores JD's desperation. The tension between loyalty to his brother and fear of consequences grows.

The brothers decide to go on a road trip to locate the buried emeralds. They set out with snarled nerves and a plan to track down the treasure. The journey shifts the focus from prison to a family quest across the country.

They stop in Bethesda where JD had been in touch with an environmentalist online. They encounter an orangutan smoking a cigarette, which shocks them into reconsidering their path. Despite the odd moment, they decide to press on rather than linger.

In a hotel, they discover their mother, who abandoned them thirty years ago for a heist. She recounts how she evaded police after her partner Glen swallowed emeralds and died, and how she buried him and fled the country. They agree to one final heist to recover the buried emeralds, now worth millions.

Farful tracks JD to Bethesda using a GPS breadcrumb from the family and informs his partner about the brothers' location. The pursuit tightens as the mom tries to maintain control of the situation. The stakes rise as law enforcement closes in.

The mom, the brothers, and an excavator head to Glen's burial plot to dig up the emeralds. They retrieve the gems but are spotted by golfers and have to improvise an escape. Back at the site, Moke discovers JD impersonated the Labor and Employment Bureau to get him fired, triggering a violent confrontation.

A chaotic chase ensues as the mom flees with the emeralds and Farful pursues them. The brothers clash with Farful in transit, and a kick to Farful knocks him unconscious. The tense pursuit advances toward the final showdown.

The mom sells the emeralds for cash, but the brothers regroup and confront her for their share. They chase to an abandoned mall where Farful appears with a gun and retrieves the bag. When he opens it, a pepper-spray trap JD planted blinds him, a Christmas tree falls on him, and police surge in.

At Judge Farful's house, Moke trades his share for the gun that carries incriminating fingerprints. The exchange binds the judge to their criminal world without leaving clear fingerprints, but it creates a loose end.

Moke hosts Thanksgiving dinner with his family, and JD reveals they have arranged a trust worth $2 million for Moke's daughter. The family looks to move forward with a hidden secret behind them. The revelation hints at continuing plans beyond the immediate heist.

One year later, the brothers visit their mother in jail and meet her new granddaughter Blueberry. JD reveals that their mother had swallowed the emeralds again before arrest, leading to the shocking discovery of multiple emeralds. The family faces the consequences of their past while trying to build a future.

In the final narration, JD reveals there were actually three emeralds, and he kept one extra for himself. The twist cements the enduring rift and the unsolved greed that drove the entire escapade. The ending leaves the treasure as much a moral lesson as a physical prize.
