As travel agent Paul Barnell grapples with overwhelming debt and desperation, he unexpectedly uncovers a body while rummaging through a dumpster—an incident that will irrevocably alter his life. This apparently innocuous corpse has been carelessly discarded by professional hitmen, igniting a whirlwind of events that will profoundly challenge Paul’s ethics.

With the hunt for his missing brother, Raymond Barnell, intensifying, Paul devises a scheme to fabricate an animal attack on the body in a bid to collect on Raymond’s life insurance policy. This ruse gains traction as local authorities confirm the corpse as Raymond’s, and a zealous insurance agent, Ted Waters, desperate for promotion, unwittingly begins to play into Paul’s hands.

However, complications arise as hitmen hunt for their own evidence, while Ted faces his personal troubles triggered by his girlfriend, Tiffany. Compounding Paul’s challenges is his wife, Margaret, suffering from Tourette syndrome, which heightens his sense of urgency and responsibility to find her a remedy.

As the tension mounts, Raymond shockingly returns home, seeking vengeance on Paul and demanding a share of the insurance payout. In a cunning twist, Paul manipulates Ted into believing he was attacked by Raymond, thereby accelerating the process of the policy’s disbursement. The situation spirals as Paul faces a moral crossroads, torn between fratricide and familial loyalty.

The chaos reaches its apex during an exchange gone wrong with the hitmen, where Raymond and Ted—having finally uncovered the layers of Paul’s deception—join the fray. Amidst a hail of bullets and turmoil, Paul is thrust into a fierce struggle to protect his family and save what little dignity he has left.

In the wake of the turmoil, Paul is relieved to learn that Margaret is alive, aided by the insurance money stashed in her jacket. With Raymond’s menace put to rest and his wife at his side, Paul embarks on a new journey as they take a well-deserved vacation in a tropical paradise, transforming ill-gotten gains into a chance for a fresh start.
