In a forest clearing, Thevan and Koran set up camp for the night. A yakshi seduces and kills Koran, leaving Thevan terrified and running for his life. By dawn he stumbles into a ramshackle mana hidden in the woods.

At dawn the exhausted Thevan is found by the mansion’s cook and brought inside the ramshackle mana. The cook feeds him and escorts him to Kodumon Potti, who questions his origins and insists he stay. Thevan is thus drawn into a life he did not seek.

Thevan is brought before Kodumon Potti, who discovers he is a paanan (folk singer) and demands that he sing. Potti compliments his singing and orders him to remain in the mana for life, quashing Thevan's wish to leave. Thevan begins to realize he is trapped as days pass.

Over the next days Thevan learns that Kodumon Potti is descended from Chudala Potti, who was gifted a chathan by the goddess Varahi. The chathan was chained in the mansion attic after Chudala's tortures turned it vengeful. Thevan also learns that the cook distrusts Kodumon and is not devoted to God.

Thevan befriends the cook, who warns him not to trust Kodumon and starts to confide in him. The cook reveals there had been a singer staying in the mansion before Thevan arrived who died insane and was buried in the backyard. Thevan's sense of safety dwindles as the mansion’s secrets close in around him.

One day Thevan sees the cook digging a grave in the backyard and tries to leave the manor. A spell that makes him sick whenever he crosses the gateway traps him, preventing his escape. The cook hints that the grave is for someone else, and Thevan's memory begins to fail as he forgets even his own name and arrival.

The cook reveals that the Potti downstairs is the chathan in disguise, while the real Potti lies upstairs in the attic and has been driven insane. Thevan realizes the mansion is a trap powered by dark magic, and his vulnerability deepens as his memory darkens. The revelation confirms a hidden war between the chathan and the rightful heir.

Thevan and the cook learn there is a secret chamber in the granary containing an ever-burning lamp that powers the chathan. Their only hope of escape is to extinguish the lamp and trap the creature in a chest. The plan sets the stage for a critical showdown that could free them or doom them together.

During an argument with the impersonator Potti, the cook steals a key to the hidden chamber. They open it and blow out the lamp, weakening the chathan. The moment marks a turning point that allows Thevan and the cook to strike at the creature.

Thevan and the cook confront the chathan as flames erupt and the mana begins to collapse. The ring's power becomes a focal point of temptation and danger, and the two fight while the mansion burns around them. The struggle ends with the mana collapsing upon them and their fates in the balance.

Thevan seems to walk away from the ruins, but the cook attacks him and discovers he is not the real Thevan at all—the chathan inhabiting Thevan's body. The real Thevan is shown to have died when the mana collapsed, leaving the chathan free to carry the ring away.

The chathan in Thevan's body slips into the forest as an imperial Portuguese soldier appears. The cook is gunned down when he tries to attack the soldiers. A platoon emerges from the woods and marches toward the mana, with the chathan wearing the ring making its ominous escape.
